OPPO fully seals the phone to prevent water ingress during underwater photography and video recording. I have used the device for more than half an hour in the swimming pool. This is causing concern about water damage. I did not do the underwater test because it is winter time. The swimming pool does not have a heated choice. I am sure the OPPO phone will survive. I am not sure I will manage to swim in the water. The temperature was around 14°.

So instead, I dipped the phone inside my bathtub for 5 minutes. Then, I tested it for 10 minutes with the underwater mode on. And there was no issue after removing it from the water, so the IP69-rated phone worked fine. 

How to use the Underwater Mode

When I switch on the underwater mode, an indicator about the mode appears on the screen. It also mentions the volume button. To take a photo, use the upper side of the volume rocker; for video recording, use the lower side. The power button acts like a stop button. Once you are out of water, use it to go back to normal mode. Hold the power button longer, and you will see a 5-second countdown. The underwater mode will then switch off, and the speaker grill will vibrate to eject water droplets.

When using the underwater mode, you can record Full HD and 4K videos with audio. There is no selfie mode available in underwater mode.

I am quite impressed with the video and photo quality. There are some firm-hold techniques you need to adopt while underwater. This is due to less light in the water. This is especially true when shooting in the evening or in low-light areas.
