Hama WK-900 Ergo Multi-Device Ergonomic Keyboard
Summary
After one week, the Hama WK-900 Ergo improved my wrist and palm comfort, although its divided layout reduced my typing speed. Quiet scissor keys, three-device switching and a padded wrist rest strengthen its appeal. The silent WM-400 mouse complements it well, but both products need separate wireless connections during use.
Short Verdict: The WK-900 Ergo rewards patience with better hand comfort, quiet typing and useful switching, while the WM-400 adds silent everyday control.
Key Takeaways

Hama WK-900 Ergo Keyboard and WM-400 Mouse Review
A keyboard and mouse may appear to be basic computer accessories. However, we use them repeatedly during almost every work or study session.
That makes their design more important than it first appears.
I tested the Hama WK-900 Ergo wireless keyboard alongside the Hama WM-400 silent wireless mouse for one week.
The keyboard remains the main attraction because its divided layout changes how both hands approach everyday typing.
The mouse takes a simpler route. It offers a compact right-handed shape, quiet buttons, adjustable sensitivity and two browser controls. My main question was simple. Can this ergonomic keyboard improve comfort without making regular typing unnecessarily complicated?
Independent Review Disclosure: Hama’s PR agency provided both products for review. No payment was involved, and the verdict reflects my one-week experience.
Quick verdict
The WK-900 Ergo did improve my hand and wrist comfort, especially when my palms rested on its broad padded support.
However, the split layout demanded patience. My fingers and muscle memory needed several days to understand the new key positions.
Even after one week, I had not returned to my normal typing speed. Comfort arrived earlier than complete familiarity.
The WM-400 proved easier to understand. Its quiet buttons, natural thumb position and browser controls worked well during everyday use. Together, these products make sense for a permanent work or study desk. They are less convincing as a portable combination.

Design and construction
The WK-900 Ergo does not hide its ergonomic purpose. Its curved shape, central separation and broad wrist rest immediately distinguish it.
The keyboard measures 41.5cm wide and 23.5cm deep. Therefore, it needs more desk depth than a compact conventional keyboard.
Its 938g weight also limits portability. However, that weight and four silicone pads kept my review unit firmly positioned.
Four folding feet let users alter the typing angle. The raised centre then tapers towards both sides, following a more natural resting position.
Hama uses laser-engraved legends, which should resist wear better than basic printed labels.
The company also says 65% of the housing and key ABS plastic comes from verified recycled sources.
The integrated wrist rest became my favourite physical feature. It supported my palms comfortably during long writing and editing sessions.
However, its PU surface became slightly warm because it does not breathe like fabric.
The wrist rest is also permanently attached. You cannot remove it for washing, although wipes or a soft tissue make cleaning straightforward.
Why an ergonomic keyboard can make sense
A conventional keyboard arranges its keys across one straight horizontal area. Many users then angle both hands inward while typing.
The WK-900 Ergo curves and separates the main typing zones. Each hand approaches its own side with less sideways bending.
A NIOSH-funded study found that correctly positioned split keyboards reduced average sideways wrist deviation among participants.
The same study found no meaningful performance difference after participants practised for at least ten hours.
That research supports the layout concept. However, an ergonomic keyboard cannot prevent or treat pain by itself.
Comfort still depends on chair height, desk position, monitor placement, posture and regular movement.
For me, the divided shape made sense because I write articles, edit documents and manage WordPress content for several hours.
The adjustment period is real
This was my first experience with a curved and divided keyboard. I needed time to understand both the angle and key separation.
On the first day, I looked at individual keys more often than usual. My fingers also searched for positions automatically.
It felt like teaching my hands a new way to type while resetting years of muscle memory.
The experience reminded me of moving from a small laptop keyboard to a larger full-size model, but with another layer of change.
My accuracy and familiarity improved over the following days. However, I still did not match my usual typing speed after one week.
Touch typists may notice this learning curve more than people who type with one or two fingers.
Users who cross between keyboard zones may also struggle initially because divided layouts reveal those habits quickly.
Therefore, buyers should not judge this keyboard after several minutes in a shop. Give it several working days before deciding.
Despite the slower speed, my hands felt more comfortable. That improvement encouraged me to continue adapting.
Adjustable angles and wrist support
The folding feet support several positions, including a negative angle with the front section slightly higher.
A negative angle can help some users avoid lifting their wrists upwards while typing.
However, there is no universal position. Your forearms, wrists and hands should remain relaxed without excessive bending.
My regular desk and gaming chair let my elbows remain close to a 90-degree angle.
With that setup, I preferred the flatter keyboard position. The padded area then supported my palms naturally while I typed.
Users with different desk heights may prefer another setting. Experimentation matters more than following one fixed recommendation.
Quiet scissor keys suit my working style
The WK-900 Ergo uses low-profile scissor keys instead of tall mechanical switches.
I regularly use a laptop keyboard and also own a mechanical gaming keyboard. For work, I generally prefer quieter keys.
Mechanical sounds can be enjoyable during gaming. However, they travel across my room during quiet late-night writing sessions.
The Hama keys felt firm and remained quiet while I wrote articles, emails and documents.
This character should suit shared offices, bedrooms and libraries, where repeated key noise can distract other people.
Gamers wanting pronounced switches, extensive customisation or gaming-specific controls should consider a dedicated gaming keyboard instead.
Multi-device connectivity adds real value
The keyboard supports three devices through one 2.4GHz receiver channel and two Bluetooth channels.
My first connection used the supplied cable. Bluetooth pairing then took less than ten seconds during initial setup.
Later reconnections happened almost instantly. Switching between my laptop and desktop computer took less than three seconds during testing.
I also connected the keyboard to my Android TV and used it for search.
The keyboard worked reliably from roughly seven to ten feet away. This became one of my most useful unexpected tests.
Windows 10 and 11 receive the complete feature set. Some functions can remain limited on macOS, Android, iOS and iPadOS.
The Assist key also needs Windows 11 and the Microsoft Copilot application for its intended Copilot function.
Backlighting and battery experience
The dimmable single-colour backlight helps users identify keys in darker rooms.
I found some uneven backlighting across the main key area and number pad. It was particularly noticeable on larger keys that use two LEDs.
Honestly, I did enjoy using the backlight for regular typing. But I preferred a desk lamp or a properly illuminated room.
The lighting made more sense during shorter sessions, especially when I used the keyboard with my television.
Hama claims up to 25 days from the integrated rechargeable battery, depending on usage.
I used the keyboard for roughly five to six hours daily during my week-long test.
However, I also used it while wired, which recharged the battery. Therefore, I could not verify endurance from one complete charge.
USB-C charging remains convenient, and Hama includes a 1.8-metre cable, adapter and cable manager.
A number pad without full-size width
The WK-900 Ergo retains a number pad despite its 90% layout.
That decision benefits spreadsheet users, accounts teams and students completing repeated numerical work.
Its reduced width also brings the mouse closer than some oversized ergonomic keyboards.
However, users who never need a number pad may prefer a smaller tenkeyless ergonomic model.
Hama WM-400 silent wireless mouse
The WM-400 is the simpler product in this review, but it proved an effective everyday companion.
Its compact right-handed shape lets the thumb rest naturally along the side.
I could lift my thumb and reach the forward or back button without stretching it.
The side buttons remain prominent, but they need enough pressure to avoid frequent accidental activation.
During sessions longer than two hours, the body felt comfortable in my hand.
Rubberised areas provided grip, while the PTFE feet moved smoothly across my desk.
The mouse offers 800, 1,200 and 1,600 DPI modes. Users can choose slower precision or faster movement across larger displays.
Its quiet main buttons created the biggest difference from my regular mouse.
A very light tap still produced a small sound, but a full click removed the familiar sharp clicking noise.
The scroll wheel created a muted sound and gentle vibration through my fingertip. I still received useful physical feedback.
The six-button design also supports forward and backward browser navigation, which helped while researching and editing online content.
Two products, two wireless connections
The keyboard and mouse look appropriate together, but they are not one unified desktop set.
Each product uses its own USB-A receiver. Using both receivers can therefore occupy two computer ports.
Bluetooth avoids this problem for the keyboard. However, the mouse remains dependent on its individual receiver.
The mouse also lacks multi-device switching. It does not follow when the keyboard moves to another computer or tablet.
This connection mismatch is the combination’s biggest practical weakness.
Is this combination suitable for students?
Yes, but it suits a permanent home-study desk better than a school bag.
University students writing assignments, coding or preparing presentations could benefit from the comfortable layout and number pad.
Quiet keys and mouse buttons also suit shared bedrooms, libraries and late-night study.
Multi-device support helps students move between a computer, tablet, smartphone and even a television.
However, the keyboard weighs 938g and occupies considerable bag space.
Younger students may also find its size and fixed split position unsuitable for smaller hands.
Parents should check desk height and chair position. An ergonomic label cannot compensate for an unsuitable study setup.
For back-to-school buyers, I recommend it mainly for older students with long typing workloads and a dedicated desk.
Advantages over a normal keyboard
- The curved and divided layout encouraged a straighter hand position during my test.
- The integrated padded wrist rest supported my palms during long writing sessions.
- Adjustable feet provide more positioning choices, including a negative angle.
- Three-device connectivity supports computers, tablets, smartphones and compatible televisions.
- Quiet scissor keys, backlighting and a number pad add practical everyday value.
Disadvantages to consider
- The divided layout requires patience, and my typing speed remained below normal after one week.
- Its fixed curve cannot adapt to every shoulder width, hand position or typing habit.
- The large wrist rest increases depth, while the 938g weight limits portability.
- The PU wrist rest can feel warm and cannot be removed for separate cleaning.
- Backlighting looked slightly uneven and did not improve my regular typing experience.
- Battery endurance remains unverified because wired use recharged the keyboard during testing.
- The keyboard and mouse need separate wireless connections.

Final verdict
The Hama WK-900 Ergo offers more than a different-looking keyboard.
Its divided shape, raised centre, padded wrist support and adjustable angles changed how my hands rested while typing.
Most importantly, my wrists and palms felt more comfortable during the review period.
That benefit did not arrive without compromise. I needed several days to adapt, and my normal typing speed had not fully returned.
The quiet scissor keys suited my late-night work, while multi-device switching became genuinely useful across my computer and Android TV.
I liked the practical approach to backlighting, although I preferred working without it.
The battery may become another strength, but my mixed wired use prevented a proper single-charge conclusion.
The WM-400 complements the keyboard with a comfortable shape, useful browser buttons and impressively quiet clicks.
However, the pair does not operate through one receiver, and the mouse lacks multi-device support.
For professionals and older students working at a fixed desk, the WK-900 Ergo deserves consideration. It asks users to relearn familiar movements, but the comfort improvement made that learning process worthwhile for me.
