The first thing I liked about the X7e Plus was its appearance. It simply looks better than I expected at this price. The overall design has a clean and modern feel, without immediately giving away its affordable positioning.
That matters.
There are smartphones where you immediately notice where the manufacturer saved money. The X7e Plus doesn’t give me that impression visually. For somebody spending under AED 1,000, I think HONOR has done well with the overall presentation.
It feels like a phone that you would be comfortable carrying every day.
Display: Smooth 120Hz, But There Is a Compromise
The X7e Plus has a large 6.87-inch LCD with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The higher refresh rate makes scrolling through menus, websites and social feeds feel smoother.

However, buyers should understand the compromise. This isn’t an AMOLED panel, and the resolution is HD+ rather than Full HD+.
At AED 899, I can understand HONOR’s decision. I would rather see the budget spent on features such as the huge battery and durability than pretend this is a premium display.
My 45°C UAE Summer Experience
This is where my UAE review became more interesting. HONOR says the X7e Plus can operate in ambient temperatures between -30°C and 50°C under its laboratory test conditions. HONOR UAE
Obviously, -30°C isn’t something I am likely to experience in Dubai.
But 45°C certainly is.
I took the X7e Plus outside during a hot UAE summer afternoon and used the camera to take photographs. I would love to tell you that I spent hours outside stress-testing it.
I didn’t.
It was simply too hot for me to remain outdoors for very long. Therefore, I am not going to describe this as a scientific thermal test. What I can say is that I actually used the X7e Plus for photography in the kind of summer heat UAE resident’s experience.
For our market, that is a far more relevant experience than simply repeating a temperature number from a specification sheet.
What About the IP69K Water Resistance?
This was one test I couldn’t properly perform. The HONOR X7e Plus carries IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.
IP69K is particularly interesting because it involves protection against high-temperature, high-pressure water jets under specific controlled conditions.
However, I did not have the necessary arrangement to reproduce a genuine IP69K test.
So I didn’t pretend to perform one.
HONOR itself clearly states that these ratings come from controlled laboratory conditions. The company also says water resistance can decrease through everyday wear. HONOR UAE
The same applies to HONOR’s 2.5-metre drop-resistance claim. I did not deliberately drop the phone because I was uncomfortable risking unnecessary damage to the review unit.
I see these certifications as valuable reassurance, particularly for people who work outdoors. But they shouldn’t be treated as permission to deliberately abuse the phone.
HONOR X7e Plus Camera Test: Good in Daylight, Limited at Night
The HONOR X7e Plus has a 50MP main camera, which sounds impressive for an affordable smartphone.
However, megapixel count alone does not determine image quality. The sensor, lens and image processing also influence the final photograph.
After testing the camera in daylight and at night, I found that it performs well under favourable lighting. However, cropping and low-light photography expose its limitations.
50MP Main Camera: Sharp Daylight Images and Accurate Colours
Daylight is where I found the 50MP main camera performing at its best.
Under good lighting, photographs appeared sharp, while colours looked accurate and natural. I was particularly pleased that the colour processing did not appear excessively artificial.
For everyday photography and social media, the daylight results were better than I expected from a phone at this price. However, I started noticing the camera’s limitations when I examined the photographs more closely.
At around a 50% crop, the loss of detail became clearly visible. Fine textures appeared softer, while some areas started showing pixelation. Therefore, I would not recommend taking a photograph with the expectation of cropping heavily into it later.
Similarly, the 50MP resolution should not be mistaken for flagship-level zoom capability.
The main camera performs well at its standard field of view. However, image quality declines when you rely heavily on digital zoom or cropping.
Night Photography: Usable Results, But Slow Capture
Low-light photography revealed more of the camera’s limitations. When using the dedicated Night mode, capturing each photograph took around three seconds during my testing.
That is manageable when photographing a stationary building, landscape or object. However, it becomes more difficult when the subject is moving.
Interestingly, I also tried taking night photographs using the regular Photo mode.
The results initially looked quite good when viewed normally on the phone. However, closer inspection revealed visible noise and reduced fine detail.
Even a small amount of digital zoom made the softness and loss of detail more noticeable.
Overall, the night camera is suitable for casual photographs and social media. However, users should keep the phone steady and avoid expecting detailed cropped images.
This demonstrates something important: 50MP does not automatically mean an excellent camera.
5MP Front Camera: Accurate Colours, Average Beauty Effects
The X7e Plus has a 5MP front camera with one field of view and no zoom option. In daylight, selfie colours looked accurate, while the camera adjusted brightness reasonably well. Faces appeared clear without making skin tones look excessively artificial.
HONOR includes Beauty mode and artificial background blur. However, I found both effects average by current smartphone standards. The processing sometimes looked less natural than the standard selfie mode.
Night selfies were also good for a 5MP camera. In darker conditions, the display works as a screen flash and provides strong illumination for close-up selfies. However, the screen light can appear slightly harsh at very close range.
When I took a selfie against a strong indoor light source, I noticed slight image distortion. At 100% crop, the photograph also lost visible detail and sharpness.
Overall, the front camera is suitable for video calls, casual selfies and social media. However, its 5MP resolution limits cropping and detailed image editing.
8,100mAh Battery: This Is the Feature That Matters
If I wouldn’t buy the X7e Plus primarily for its camera, the battery gives me a much stronger reason. An 8,100mAh battery is huge for a mainstream smartphone.
It is paired with 45W HONOR SuperCharge. HONOR UAE
For UAE users, I think this matters.
Navigation, 5G, social media, video calls and long daily commutes can quickly consume battery power. It also makes the X7e Plus interesting for people spending long periods away from a charger.
HONOR describes it as providing extended battery life, but I would avoid claiming a guaranteed “three-day battery.”
Battery endurance depends heavily on display brightness, 5G usage, navigation, gaming and other factors. The 8,100mAh capacity itself is impressive enough without exaggerating it.
Performance and Everyday Use
Powering the phone is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 processor. Again, it is important to keep expectations appropriate for the price. This isn’t a Snapdragon flagship, and HONOR isn’t positioning the X7e Plus as a performance flagship.
For this category, what matters more is whether everyday applications, social media, messaging, browsing and entertainment work comfortably. That is the type of buyer I would associate with this phone.
If maximum gaming performance is the priority, I would look elsewhere.
Storage: Be Careful Which Version You Buy
The AED 899 version comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB of storage. Personally, I think 128GB can become limiting today.
Photographs, WhatsApp media, apps and videos consume storage surprisingly quickly.
However, there is an important update.

For somebody planning to keep the phone for several years, I would seriously consider the 256GB version. Buyers should confirm expandable-storage compatibility before purchasing, as HONOR’s UAE specification page does not clearly list microSD support.
AI Features Are No Longer Only for Expensive Phones
HONOR is also bringing its AI features further down the smartphone price range. The X7e Plus includes a dedicated AI button that can provide quick access to supported functions.
There is AI Image to Video 2.0, AI Eraser, AI Summary, AI Memory and Circle to Search. Availability can vary by market and software version. HONOR UAE
AI Image to Video could be particularly interesting for younger users and emerging content creators. These aren’t reasons I would buy the phone on their own.
However, they add useful functionality to an affordable device.
Regional Warranty Coverage Adds Practical Value
According to HONOR’s GCC review guide, eligible HONOR phones and tablets purchased in the UAE, Oman, Qatar or Bahrain receive regional warranty coverage. HONOR states that this includes applicable value-added services through its service centres in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain, South Africa, India and Pakistan.
However, availability may vary by device, warranty status, and local service conditions. Buyers should confirm their eligibility with HONOR before requesting support outside the country of purchase.
Who Is the HONOR X7e Plus Really For?
After spending time with it, I see four groups that make sense.
Outdoor and field workers: The durability certifications, large battery and high-volume speakers make it particularly relevant for people working away from a desk.
Heavy everyday users: An 8,100mAh battery makes the phone attractive to people who don’t want to constantly look for a charger.
Practical budget buyers: At AED 899, the X7e Plus prioritises battery capacity and ruggedness over AMOLED displays and sophisticated camera systems.
Casual content creators: The camera performs well in daylight, while HONOR’s AI editing features provide additional creative options without requiring expensive hardware.
HONOR X7e Plus 5G Review UAE: Verdict
The HONOR X7e Plus is a smartphone where understanding the priorities is more important than looking at individual numbers.
Don’t buy it simply because the camera says 50MP. My testing showed that the camera produces attractive, sharp photographs with accurate colours in good daylight. But cropping, zooming and low-light photography reveal its limitations.

You are getting an enormous 8,100mAh battery, IP68/IP69/IP69K protection, claimed 2.5-metre drop resistance, 5G, a 120Hz display and a surprisingly attractive design. That changes my perspective on the phone.
The X7e Plus isn’t trying to be an affordable camera flagship. It is an affordable smartphone built around battery life, durability and everyday practicality. For the right UAE buyer, I think that is a much more convincing proposition.
