Even with the vaccine are getting rolled out but there are chances, the consumer may continue to work from home even during 2021.
Now! to work, you require a good internet service provider, a router and devices to access the network.
With a good router, you may require Wi-Fi extender to cover the dead spots at your home and there are a lot of options available in the market. Some brand suggests its own brand and some brand has the option with work with different brands too.
Tp-link is has been a known brand for networking products. Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X) is one such product which works with different brands with Dual-band capacity 5 GHz & 2.4 GHz. It has Wi-Fi 6 capabilities and also works along with the older Wi-Fi signals, so that means you don’t have to upgrade your old router to use this product.
As many of the devices which are releasing in the market are Wi-Fi 6 ready, so with Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender, you are future-ready for any devices purchased by you in the current year.
Body & Specification
The Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X) comes in a light blue rectangular packaging with features mentioned on the box and also support for Mesh networking. There is also mention of 5 GHz & 2.4 GHz dual-band support. When you open the box, you will find another paper pulp package tray which has the Quick installation guide, the Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender and some other papers.

The Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender is nice white piano finish with Tp-link logo in shiny silver colour and made out of ABS plastic. The device has two antennae which can move vertically 180 degrees up and down.
The device has a WPS button located on the right side beside the reset button and the Ethernet port on the left side if you want to directly connect with the LAN networking. To power the device, it has direct type G (3-pin triangular) with 100-240V – 50/60Hz 0.3A which is perfect and common socket installed in the UAE homes.
The design of the device is compact, sleek and has vented slits around the side of the body which helps to cool the device. It comes with the dimension of 2.9 ×1.8 ×4.9 in and consumes a power of 10 Watts.
The device comes with smart LED indicators which change colour, if there is a blue light means a strong signal and a red light means a weak signal or not connected.
The Review
The first step to activate the RE605X device is to download the tp-link tether app which can be downloaded from Google Play Store (Android) or Apple Store (IOS). Then create a Login ID or if you already have one then login with it on the App. Then choose the type of router you want to connect, of course, we chose wi-fi extender and followed the instruction, step by step and then connected with my Du provided Linksys router with my Wi-Fi username and password. As my Du Linksys router is not a 5G router but there was no issue connected with the Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X)

Then, you have an option to choose the 2.4 GHz (574 Mbps) or 5 GHz (1201 Mbps) connection. For the testing, I have connected my Huawei P30(4G) and Huawei P40 to the 5G link.
Of course, the speed would be the same as the source Du Linksys is the old router which doesn’t have the capabilities of 5G even my area has Du 5G capabilities. You can check your area for 5G via the service provider website or expected in the future.
There is also a WPS button on the device by which directly connect to your phone which has a WPS facility under Setting / Wi-Fi connectivity. So now with the Wi-Fi extender working you can look around your house for the dead or weak Wi-Fi spots. You have to connect the configured the Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X) around that particular area for better reception but of course, need to the connection between the main router and the extender.
While testing, I have removed the configured Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X) from one socket to another and within less than a 1min, it started to work again. Just to give an idea, you are staying in big house or villa and you are using Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X) in one of your bedrooms and now you require to watch 4K movies or play games in another room which has a weak signal from your main router. So, you can remove the Wi-Fi range Extender from your bedroom socket and attach it to your other room to boost the signal for the games or watching 4K movies online. If you are using one of the new tp-link brand routers as your main source then the Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X) can be used in the Mesh network by connecting to One Mesh router.
The Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X) comes with Wi-Fi 6 capabilities, so if you have devices which have Wi-Fi 6 facilities, you are going to the get maximum speed and networking from your main router
Conclusion
For the price of AED 276 on the online market, the Tp-link AX1800 Wi-Fi Range Extender (RE605X), looks like a great buy for the consumers. The positive feedback of the product was easy to connect and configure via tp-link tether app with following easy instruction which a basic lame person can do the installation, and once configured, you can remove from one socket and shift it to another socket as per your requirement.
You get 2 options – 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks to log in. And if you have a current tp-link router, you can use the tp-link One Mesh router system.
Even for commercial/offices, this product can be used by simple configuration and remove the dead/weak spots in the office areas.
