[editorial-rating id=”36421″]

Sony is a very well-known brand when it comes to audio equipment and is known for providing the best quality Headphones and earphones. In July 2022, Sony created the gaming brand INZONE and launched the H9 wired and wireless headphones which were released in White colour and in October 2023 released the black colour.

This review will delve into the INZONE H9’s strengths and weaknesses, covering key aspects like sound quality, comfort, connectivity, and microphone performance. Ultimately, it will help you decide if this premium headset deserves a spot on your gaming setup.

Design and Build Quality

The INZONE H9 (WH-G900N/BZ E) boasts a sleek and stylish design that complements the aesthetics of the PlayStation 5. The predominant black colour scheme is accentuated by white accents on the ear cups and headbands. The overall build quality feels solid and premium, thanks to a combination of plastic and metal components. There is a circular LED light between the ear cups and headband which adds to the touch of gaming style.

The INZONE H9 comes with a closed dynamic Neodymium 40mm driver which can provide a sound range of 5Hz – 20,000Hz. The H9 comes with a flip-up microphone. The H9 headphone comes with Bluetooth 5.0 which has an effective range of 10 meters. It also comes with a USB Type-A Transceiver Dongle which has a very long range with 2.4GHz. It supports A2DP, AVRCP, HFP, HSP Bluetooth profile and SBC and ACC audio formats. The H9 headphones come with Noise Cancellation and Ambient sound mode. The WH-G900N/BZ E (black) weighs around 335 grams.

Comfort

Comfort is crucial for long gaming sessions, and the INZONE H9 excels in this area. The ear cups are well-padded with soft, synthetic leather that feels comfortable against the ears.

The headband is also adjustable and features a plush cushion to minimize pressure on the top of your head. The overall weight of the headset is manageable at 335 grams, ensuring fatigue-free wear even during extended gaming sessions. Ear cups can get warm during extended wear.

Sound Quality

The INZONE H9 shines in the realm of sound quality. The 40mm drivers produce clear highs and mids, ensuring faithful reproduction of dialogue and sound effects. But compared to WH-1000XM5, I found the Bass frequency a little less.

Sony’s 360 Spatial Sound is a highlight, offering an immersive gaming experience by creating a realistic sense of depth and directionality. This allows you to pinpoint the location of footsteps, gunshots, and other crucial sound cues, giving you a competitive edge in games that rely heavily on spatial awareness. The H9 lacks advanced features like head tracking for spatial sound.

Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) is another key feature, effectively blocking out background noise and distractions. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the game’s soundscape, whether you’re playing in a noisy environment or simply want to eliminate distractions.

Connectivity

The INZONE H9 connects wirelessly to your PlayStation 5 or PC using a 2.4 GHz USB dongle. The connection is stable and reliable with minimal latency, ensuring smooth audio transmission without any noticeable lag.

An additional Bluetooth connection allows you to connect your smartphone to the headset simultaneously, letting you take calls or chat with friends without switching devices. This can be particularly useful while playing online multiplayer games.

Customization

The INZONE Hub PC software allows for further customization of the audio experience. You can adjust the equalizer settings to personalize the sound signature according to your preferences and the type of game you’re playing. Additionally, you can tweak microphone settings and monitor battery life.

Microphone

The INZONE H9 features a uni-directional, flip-up microphone with noise cancellation. It captures your voice clearly and effectively minimizes background noise, ensuring clear communication with your teammates during online gaming sessions. The microphone sound quality is clear and natural and it picks up the close sound of the gamer and reduces the surrounding noise.

Battery Life

The INZONE H9 boasts an impressive battery life of up to 32 hours with ANC turned off, and 14 hours with ANC on. This allows for extended gaming sessions without the worry of the headset running out of juice in the middle of your gameplay

Price and Value

The Sony INZONE H9 retails at AED 899 placing it in the premium tier of gaming headsets. While its price tag might be a deterrent for some, the quality of its sound, build, and features justify the cost for discerning gamers who demand a top-tier audio experience.

Conclusion

The Sony INZONE H9 is a formidable contender in the premium gaming headset market. It delivers exceptional sound quality with impressive immersion through 360 Spatial Sound and effective ANC. The comfortable design, low-latency wireless connection, and long battery life further enhance the experience. In 10 mins charging you get 1 hour of play and fully charged gives you 32 hours. The styling and quality of the H9 headphones are premium.

However, its price tag might push it out of reach for some users. On long usage, some consumers may feel Ear cups can get warm during extended wear. The H9 lacks advanced features like head tracking for spatial sound. The BASS sound is good but compared to WH-1000XM5 quality, the H9 lacked the rumble Bass but overall the Treble, and Mids. are good.
