The realme 12 Pro+ 5G was tested for more than a month and used on regular basis. I was really impressed by the camera setup and storage size. Without saying much, read the whole review in detail and you will understand why I have given the excellent rating for the device.
Brief about realme 12 Pro+ 5G and smartphone releases.
In 2018, the realme Chinese brand was founded and targeted the mid-segment smartphone category. The brand provides stylish, competitive prices and quite powerful performance for the price.
Recently, realme launched the realme 12 Pro+ 5G smartphone for the UAE market. I got the device for review and I was astonished with the looks, style, camera and performance for a mid-tier segment smartphone
The Review
Body & Specification
The realme 12 Pro+ 5G comes with dimensions of 161.5 x 74 x 8.8 mm and weighs 190 grams. It comes with a 6.7″ AMOLED display. The phone has a resolution of 1080 x 2412 pixels. It has ~394 ppi density with 120Hz refresh rate and is HDR10+ certified and 950 nits (peak).
The body has a Glass front and the back panel comes with eco-vegan leather and an aluminum frame. The side comes with a golden fluted bezel which is plastic and can be damaged if you drop the phone. The camera unit comes with a round golden ring and a thin vertical link which has diamond cut and provides a rich and classic look. The realme 12 Pro+ 5G review unit came with 12GB RAM + 4GB GPU RAM and 512GB ROM (Storage). The phone has been developed in collaboration with International Luxury Watch Designer Ollivier Savéo and provides a ‘Luxury Watch Design’.
The front camera of the realme 12 Pro+ 5G has a 32MP IMX709 telephoto lens with a 1/2.74-inch sensor. You can get 2x optical zoom. It has F2.4 apertures with a 21mm (wide) lens.
The main camera has got triple camera setup, which consists of a 50 MP, f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0″, PDAF, OIS. The second camera is 32 MP, f/2.0, 47mm (telephoto), 1/2.75″, PDAF, OIS, 2x optical zoom The third camera is 8 MP, f/2.2, 16mm, 112˚ (ultra wide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm. The cameras have LED flash, HDR, and panorama.
The right side of the body has the volume rockers and power button. The left side is clean. The bottom side has a dual SIM Card Tray and a USB Type-C port with a mic and speaker. On the top, you have the MIC and speaker.
The phone comes with Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, and LE. It comes with Sensors Fingerprint (under the display, optical), accelerometer, gyro, proximity, and compass.
The realme 12 Pro+ 5G comes with a 5000-watt battery and supports 67W wired, PD, 50% in 19 min. But it does not support wireless charging.
Testing the Cameras
The realme 12 Pro+ 5G performed excellently in its price range. While testing the main camera, the response of the focusing and colour vibrancy was excellent. The phone comes with three exclusive movie filters curated by Claudio Miranda, an Oscar Winner for Best Cinematography. With the help of AI, the colour representation is rich and vibrates
Main Cameras were tested in daylight and low light. The camera was used to click buildings, food, animals, flowers and people.
Even, I had the opportunity to use the realme 12 Pro smartphone during the visit of Al Ain Zoo Safari.
I had even taken some selfies with the 32MP camera and result looked quite natural and excellent. Even during the night, the low shots looked quite less.
Stunning Display and Powerful Performance
The 6.7-inch AMOLED display delivers vibrant colours, sharp visuals, and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate. The phone provides a 240Hz touch sampling rate and an instantaneous sampling rate of up to 2000Hz, the phone felt quite responsive.
The phone is powered by the latest Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor, ensuring smooth performance for gaming, multitasking, and demanding applications. While the display panel itself is quite vibrant and ensures you get an immersive experience while watching content, the peak brightness of 800 nits lets you down when you try to use the phone outdoors.
Benchmark test
The realme 12 Pro+ 5G was tested on multiple benchmark apps. The PC Mark benchmark result is Work 3.0 – 12024. The Geekbench 6 CPU benchmark: Single-Core Score – 934 and Multi-Core Score – 2737. 3D Mark Wild Life Extreme – 617 and Sling Shot – 5556.
Is the realme 12 Pro+ 5G smartphone right for you?
The realme 12 Pro+ 5G is a great phone with a great display and pretty good performance. The main camera with 50MP performed very well especially the color reproduction of the videos and pictures. Especially the daylight shots were great and low light performance was average and not great on zooming during low light. With a 5000mAh battery, the phone performed for more than 2 days.
The selfie 32MP camera was quite good and it would be great for Vlogging. Even the front camera video performance was quite good. While taking pictures there was little problem with the stability of the camera especially in the moving car, sharpness was affected.
