Anker has introduced many products in the Middle East market and quietly reduced their size and weight while increasing their power output. They’ve put out tiny phone chargers, versions with half a dozen USB ports, and models with enough juice to charge any laptop without breaking a sweat.
The new Anker products focus on providing ease to the consumer. The Anker team has sent us the latest wall charge unit for review – Anker Power Port 3 (3-port 65W Pod) (Model No: A6227).
Design & Specification
The Anker Power Port 3 comes with dimensions of 48.5 × 43 × 67.6 mm and weighs 141 grams. Anker Power port comes with a Type G (BS 1363) pin. The Anker A6227 plug which we received came in phantom black colour. The body is made of ABS plastic with a smooth finish and the top side comes in silver colour. It has 3 ports a) 1 USB-A Port and b) 2 USB-C ports.
Anker Power Port 3 comes with GaN technology, PowerIQ™ 3.0, Voltage Boost™, ActiveShield™️ Safety System, MultiProtect™ and with 18-month warranty.
What is the GaN Technology?
Gallium nitride (GaN) is a wide bandgap semiconductor used for high-efficiency power transistors and integrated circuits. By growing a thin layer of aluminum gallium nitride (AlGaN) on top of a GaN crystal, a strain is created at the interface that induces a compensating two-dimensional electron gas (2DEG).
As mentioned on the inside of the box flap – Powered by GaN 2 technology which increases the working frequency of the GaN by 100%, allowing the charger to generate less heat and be shrunk down more than ever.
ActiveShield Safety System
Features a Dynamic Temperature Sensor which actively monitors temperature and a Power Tuner Chip which adjusts power output to safeguard your connected device.
The Review
The review unit which we received came in the 4 colours printed box with the image of the adapter on the box. The box comes with a flap with a magnetic hold. The box has a transparent cover and there is also a separate box which slides from the bottom side. The box came with the manual paper.
Once you open the inner box, you will find the Anker Power Port 3 (3-port 65W Pod) device. The adapter has 3 ports. From top to bottom, you find the USB-C which delivers 65Watt Max with “IQ” written with a laptop symbol. This can be used to charge the new laptop which has USB-C charging for Windows and Apple.
The second charging pin is also USB-C which also delivers 65Watt Max and has a mobile symbol. This can be used for supercharging the new mobile phone with a USB-C pin for Android and IOS devices. The third charging pin is USB-A which can deliver 22.5Watt Max power with “IQ” written on the bottom.
While testing the adapter, I have used all the 3 ports with different devices. To try all the ports simultaneously, I have connected, two mobile phones and a laptop with USB-C pin for charging.
I have noticed the supercharging of the mobile works better when a single port is used for charging. I have also used it to charge the iPhone 13 Max Pro and worked fine. The laptop charging took around 4% charge in 5mins.
Overall Review
Anker Power Port 3 (3-port 65W Pod) is a great device which is compact and lightweight. It can charge 3 devices at the same time. You can supercharge the devices with 65 Watts. The most important factor is the compact size which can charge the laptop, generally, you will find the laptop charger to be big and bulky. Even the new laptop comes with a stylish adapter but the Anker Power Port 3 is small and compact and would pass by as a mobile adapter. This product would be a great traveller’s companion which solves all the problems of carrying multiple adapters.
The other colours are black ice colour, Arctic White, Glacier Blue, and Cool Lavender. The device is priced at AED 249 and is available on Jumbo Electronics.
