Huawei has been known to provide the latest products in Smartphones, Tablets, Watches, Earbuds, TVs, and Monitors.
Huawei Middle East introduced the latest smartwatch Huawei Watch GT4 and we had the chance to review one of the watches. The two different sizes 46mm and 41mm for the Middle East market. The 46mm size would be coming in three different strap styles – Black, Brown, and Green. The Black strap watch comes with a black dial. The 41mm size comes in three different types with two variants in the gold case and one in the black case, it comes with three different colour straps – Black, White, and Light Gold variants.
We have received the green strap with brush metal classic style casing for review.
Design & Specification
Body & Display
Huawei Watch GT4 comes in 46mm x 46mm x 10.9mm Octagonal Design and weighs 48 grams (excluding the strap). The display is a 1.43-inch AMOLED Display with 466 x 466 pixels and ~326 ppi. The watch display is protected with circular Sapphire Crystal Glass. The Huawei Watch GT4 case is made of a metal bezel + stainless steel body and the back shell is made of polymer fibre composite material. The watch is waterproof and has 5ATM* certification and an IP68 rating which means you can dive wearing the watch to 50 meters.
The watch comes with a Green Composite Strap and is called Rain Forest Green. The strap is made from 70% ocean-recycled nylon with 30% recycled polyester from plastic bottles. The size is 140-210 mm. It has two loops which help to secure the strap properly. On the right side, there is a rotating crown and a function button. The left side is clean. The 46mm watch comes with a 524mAh battery which can give 14 days of battery life. The watch takes 100 minutes to fully charge with the Qi Charger which is provided along the watch.
Operating System & Features
The Watch GT4 comes with Harmony OS as an Operating System. The watch comes with 16GB ROM and 2GB RAM. The watch has a loudspeaker and NFC connectivity. It has 2.4 GHz and supports BT5.2 and BR + BLE for connectivity. It uses a Global positioning system from GPS, GLONASS, GALILEO and BDS.
The watch has all the sensors which include an Accelerometer sensor, a Gyroscope sensor, a Magnetometer sensor, an Optical heart rate sensor, a Barometer sensor and a Temperature sensor. The watch supports Qi wireless charging.
The Review
The Huawei Watch GT4 that we received is the Rain Forest Green with Brush Metal Stain steel case with Metal Bezel. The packaging of the GT4 Watch comes in the square cube box design.
Beautiful Packaging
The GT4 watch comes in a Cube box which opens from the top. As you open the cover you will see the watch which is protected with a translucent sticker and the bottom side is also protected with a sticker. Beside the watch, you have two compartments. One compartment has the magnetic Qi charger which connects to a USB Type-A connector and the second compartment has the warranty card and quick start-up guide.
Functions & Features
The right side of the case has a rotation crown which controls most of the function. When you press the crown, you have access to all the APPs in one glance and you can zoom in or zoom out to see all the Apps. There is another button below the crown with helps to go back to the main dial screen and other functions. The Watch supports Always-On Display which works for 30 minutes.
The watch comes with a built-in speaker and mic by which you can receive phone calls make calls or send out custom SMSes with just a flick of your wrist, so you don’t have to use your phone. You can make Bluetooth call up to 100 meters from the paired smartphone. The watch comes with storage in which you can store music which you can play via the speaker on the watch or connect to your Bluetooth headset. So don’t have to carry your phone while you are out doing exercise.
Health Management
The Huawei Watch GT4 comes with upgraded TruSeen 5.5+ heart rate monitoring technology, which provides precision and efficiency for analyzing workout performance and daily health in the most scientific and intelligent way. Leveraging the power of AI algorithms, TruSeen 5.5+ ensures the most accurate heart rate readings possible.
With the TruSeen 5.5+ heart rate monitoring can detect PPG arrhythmia analysis, the HUAWEI WATCH GT 4 supports continuous and periodic measuring to alert users of any irregular heartbeats detected. The watch also tracks sleep monitoring by recording the duration and quality of your sleep very accurately, using HUAWEI’s very own TruSleep 3.0 technology. Even a 20-minute nap on the aeroplane can be detected and logged.
Smart Workout Coach
The WATCH GT 4 comes with the Stay Fit app, which helps you control your calories and manage weight. It counts your calories, shows you how much you need to burn, and gives you weight control plans to achieve your health goals. It includes a calorie alert to keep you on track with your calorie targets.
As for the additional features the watch comes with ECG readings, SpO2 readings, barometer readings, thermometer readings, sleep tracking, stress management and a lot more. This watch features over 100 sports modes such as running, cycling, swimming, and Padel Tennis, running, walking, hiking, snowboarding, Cross Country Skiing, Triathlon, treadmill, Exercise biking, Circuit Training, weight machines, Freehand workout cycling, swimming indoor and outdoor and lot more.
Just by rotating the crown, you can access all the functions like relaxing breathing exercises, Sleep tracking, checking the weather and temperature in your area, notifications and Time zones The step tracking works great and the features are great. I like the watch’s battery life as it lasts for 14 days.
5 ATM & IP68 Certification
The Watch is waterproof can used up to 50 meters depth and is IP68 rated, so nothing to be worried about regarding dust and water. The body is a stainless steel frame but not sure it may not work under rugged extreme conditions. The Huawei mentions the Watch GT4 can work –20°C to +45°C.

Verdict
Overall the Huawei Watch GT4 is a beautiful watch with a 46mm AMOLED Display and with Octagonal case designs. It has all the latest features from Health Management and Smart Workout Coach and a lot more.
Overall verdict – Stylish, Premium, great features, functional with 14 days of battery life and IP68 rating goes along with all the types of men’s clothing and it is 5ATM & IP68 Certified.
Huawei Watch GT4 can connect with iOS and Android smartphones with the Huawei Health App which is available on Apple App Store and Huawei website. Switch on the Huawei Watch GT4 and choose the language and the next screen on the watch shows to connect with the smartphone you can scroll a little and there is the option to connect by scanning the QR Code with your smartphone. As you have to download the Huawei Health App on your smartphone, you have to register with Huawei to activate the Health App.
Go to add devices and on the top right side is an option to scan the QR code on the watch. The process of downloading the firmware happens automatically with a click of some allowing the process. In the whole process, you have to pair the watch with the smartphone by clicking on the touch screen on the watch and Health App. Soon the watch is connected to the smartphone. You may have to upgrade the firmware for a better experience of the Huawei Watch GT4. For your health, you have to add your details like age, weight and height. You can track your health and sleep and a lot more with the App on the phone.
ATM or “atmospheres” is the amount of pressure a watch can withstand. 5ATM will withstand pressures equivalent to about 50 meters, or 164 ft. under water.
