Huawei P60 Pro is the latest flagship smartphone launched internationally launched on 10th May 2023 at Atlantis Palm Jumeirah in Dubai, UAE. Huawei P60 Pro is the updated and predecessor version of the last year’s Huawei P50 Pro which was launched around July – August 2022.
The Review – Huawei P60 Pro
The Huawei P60 Pro was sent to us for unboxing and review of the device.
The review unit Huawei P60 pro comes in a white box with a gold embossed logo and text. The Box also has the word “Kunlun Glass” and App Gallery mentioned on the front of the box.
When you open the box, you will find the Huawei P60 pro device inside the translucent paper. Below the device, you will find the mesh paper partition. Under the partition, you will find a sleeve which has the SIM Ejector tool and transparent back case protector. Below the sleeve, you will find the Super Charger adapter. The interesting part of the supercharger, you see there are 2 ports. USB A port provides 88Watt to the phone and the USB C port can be used to even charge a laptop with a Type C port. Box also comes with USB A to USB C super charging cable. The phone can be wirelessly charged at 50W. The phone can be turbocharged by pressing the screen while charging and the phone charges fast in 10 mins, you can get half of the battery.
Now let us talk about the Huawei P60 pro device. The device comes with a Quad curve display phone similar to earlier P series smartphones. Due to Quad’s smooth rounded edges, the grip feels very thin, slim and great to hold. The device comes with 4815 mAh.
Specs & Details
P60 Pro is 1st smartphone in the p series to have the Kunlun Glass for screen protection which makes the screen almost indestructible. The Kunlun glass is 10 times more protective than other types of screen protectors available in the market. So now you have a Flagship smartphone which is safe from accidental drops or hard hits.
The back panel comes with a pearl finish design which Huawei calls Roccoco Pearl which is anti-fingerprint.
The right side has the volume rocker, the top side has the mic, speaker and infrared, the left side is clean and the bottom side has the SIM Tray, USB C port and speaker. The phone is IP68 rated which is it protected from water and dust.
Huawei P60 Pro – Software & Hardware
The device comes with OLED with a 120HZ screen display. The devices with a processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 4G with Adreno GPU and 7th GEN AI Qualcomm Engine. It comes with EMUI 13.1 OS. It has 8GB RAM with 256GB Storage. There is also 12GB RAM with 512GB Storage.
Huawei P60 Pro – Cameras
The Huawei P60 pro comes with an IMAGE Triple Camera setup with 48MP Ultra Lighting Camera (F1.4~F4.0 aperture, OIS). 13 MP Ultra-Wide Angle Camera (F2.2 aperture) and 48 MP Ultra Lighting Telephoto Camera (F2.1 aperture, OIS). The design of the camera panel looks like a DSLR camera. And selfie camera is a single Lens of 13 MP with a Wide Angle, F2.4. It can shoot 4K videos, HDR mode and can shoot 30FPS and 60 FPS and 1080p@960fps
The Huawei P60 camera was tested in various types of activities which included Astrophotography, Low light photography, videography, Time lapse, Light painting and a lot more.
The Huawei P60 Pro IMAGE triple camera performed very well, especially during low light and pitch-dark areas.
Trying out the Cameras
For Astrophotography, I went to Al Qudra Lake around midnight The on screen, you can see you get a PIP image of the moon by indicating and stabilizing the camera with OIS. With a little zooming and steady hands with support, I was able to capture the moon. Then with a tripod and setting the camera to PRO Mode. Adjusted the ISO setting and Aperture speed and we were able to capture the surrounding area which was pitch dark. Even though we clicked the night sky and to our bad luck it was not a very clear night, still got a decent image.
As for fun, we tried light painting effects with my friends trying to make a heart with two lighter. And this was possible with a 6-sec shutter speed and adjusting the ISO speed.
I tried the Time-lapse in Abu Dhabi Heritage Village area where I set the phone on a tripod and kept it rolling and got amazing video footage. Clicked some selfies and portrait shots and the result was great. Overall experience with the Image Triple was excellent and the best smartphone used so far.
And now Huawei comes with all necessary apps which include apps like Facebook, Whatsapp, Instagram, Youtube and a lot more.
Verdict
Huawei P60 Pro has proven again, the Huawei smartphone camera is the top leader when it comes to photography and videography. Even DXO Mark says the same thing. The best feature is the low light photography and non-technical term, pitch dark area gets illuminated by the P60 Pro camera. Another important feature is the aperture which has range from 1.4 to 4.0 which I have not seen so far in any other smartphone. In short, it is just like a DSLR camera in your pocket. The 10X optical zoom with 100X digital zoom is more than enough for any traveller or photographer to be content.
And now with added GBox app and Google apps, it completes the requirement of any consumer except for the Gmail app (coming soon). The Huawei OS has been very stable for years which I can vouch as I still have my Huawei P30 pro smartphone (2019) working fine. The body of the Huawei P60 Pro smartphone is very sturdy, sleek and stylish with a dual SIM Card Tray. Screen protection with “Kunlun Glass” which helps to protect the display from accidental drops and damages.
The overall experience of the Huawei P60 Pro is an excellent smartphone. I would recommend vloggers, photographers, videographers and anyone who loves a smartphone with great features.
