Huawei is a brand which has been known for smartphones. They have introduced technological devices that complement and connect with smartphones: headphones, earbuds, digital watches, computers and tablets.
In the 2021 series of devices, the brand is creating an ecosystem called “The Huawei Super Devices”. On 27th July 2022, Huawei launched multiple devices, including HUAWEI Mate Xs 2, a flagship laptop HUAWEI MateBook X Pro, and HUAWEI Mate Xs 2, a flagship laptop HUAWEI MateBook X Pro, a flagship tablet HUAWEI MatePad Pro, HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 2 as well as HUAWEI MateBook 16s and HUAWEI MateBook D 16.

The Review

I have received the Huawei MateBook D 16 which was reviewed for more than 2 weeks. Huawei MateBook D 16 Notebook (Model – RLEF-X) comes with a dimension of 356.7 mm (W) x 248.7 mm (D) X 18.4 mm (H) and weighs around 1.7 kg. The body of the notebook is metallic finish. The rear cover, top cover, bottom cover, and side covers (where the ports are located) are made of metallic materials and the rotating shaft is made of non-metallic materials.

The notebook comes with an IPS screen and a 15.6 inches display. It has a body-to-screen ratio of 90% and has a 1920 x 1200pixel resolution with 142 PPI. The Notebook has a 16:10 aspect ratio with 300 Nits brightness. It has 100% SRGB with a 1200:1 contrast ratio and a view angle of 178 degrees. The device has the display and has obtained the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light (Hardware Solution) Certification.

Talking about the power and specs, the notebook comes with the 12ᵗʰ Gen Intel Core i7-12700H Processor has 12 cores with Intel Iris Xᵉ Graphics.

And overall the Huawei MateBook D 16 Notebook comes with Windows 11 Home edition as Operating System.
As for the storage, it comes with a 512 GB NVMe PCIe SSD and 16GB RAM.

As for the charging of the device, it comes with a USB Type C charging port and supports up to 65Watt SuperCharge. The notebook has 60 Watt battery which supports 65Watt fast charging.

The device comes with a web camera 1080P FHD which can click 1920 x 1080 HD images and 19:6 ratios with Full HD video @30FPS with an 88° wide-angle camera angle. The camera can be shut off with the button on the top of the right-hand corner. The camera has smart conference which is supported by AI Camera and AI Sound. You enable Virtual background to hide your background and better privacy. Under the setting, you can change the camera setting from 50 Hz to 60 Hz. On Low light camera functions pretty good but images or videos are noisy.

As for the connective, the Huawei MateBook D 16 Notebook comes with WLAN IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n/ac/ax, 2.4 GHz, 2×2 MIMO, WPA/WPA2/WPA3 and 5 GHz. It has Bluetooth BT5.1, and comes with multiple ports – USB-C x 1 (support data, charging and DisplayPort), USB-C x 1 (support data, charging, USB3.2 Gen1 x 1, USB2.0 x 1, HDMI, 3.5 mm headset and microphone 2-in-1 jack, Full-size Backlit Keyboard and Numeric keypad. With the multiple ports, you connect with Projectors, keyboards, mouses, and earphones.

The notebook is a SuperDevice comes with Huawei Share and by which you can connect to other Huawei devices like Huawei smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, speakers and headphones. Connection is quite simple; you get pop-up pairing requests near any NFC object or Huawei device. It supports Wireless screen projection which can work on MateView wirelessly and a fast connective with Wi-Fi 6. The notebook has Huawei Vision by which you can connect with any Huawei Vision Displays and certain Huawei laptops running PC Manager 12.0.2 or later support this function.

When it comes to Cross-device collaboration you can Cross-device transfers and Cross-device searching between the connected devices. You can drag to connect multiple devices, to form a Super Device, open the control centre on your laptop, access the Super Device screen, and drag to connect the devices.

As for the audio, the notebook comes with 4 noise cancellation microphones for capturing the sound on every side of the notebook. The 4 mics are edge-shaped to reduce blocking and achieve 360° sound pickup within a maximum of 5 meters.AI noise cancellation can intelligently filter out noise, such as ringtones and typing sounds, to make conference audio more pristine than ever. Wear the earphones and enable Personal voice enhancement to further filter out surrounding voices, and keep your calls crystal clear. It has got 2 stereo speakers on the notebook which is quite loud.

The Huawei comes with a Metaline antenna which is supposed to signal conversion efficiency by 56% and enhances network stability and speed in weak signal conditions (such as long distances and multiple walls), which allows for free and easy large file download, online conferencing and HD live streaming. The keyboard comes with backlit keys; each key has 1.5mm key travel.
The keycap is made of high-strength PC materials and coated with multiple layers of paint. Which doubles the wear resistance times and makes the keyboard more durable. The notebook has a full-size keyboard including a numeric keypad which is a great help for business people who require input data.

The Huawei MateBook D 16 notebook comes with 65 Watt compact charger and Supercharge USB Type-C cable.
Benchmark

The Huawei MateBook D 16 was tested with 3 different hard drive benchmark tests. As the 12ᵗʰ Gen Intel Core i7-12700H Processor with 512 GB NVMe PCIe SSD and 16GB RAM. The hard drive is divided into a C drive and a D drive. AS-SSD Benchmark result with 1GB and 10GB. ATTO Disk Benchmark result with file size 256 MB.
Conclusion

The Huawei MateBook D 16 Notebook is perfectly designed for consumers and businesses. There are multiple configurations available to suit the business community from 12ᵗʰ Gen Intel Core i5-12450H, i5-12500H and i7-12700H Processor. There are 3 variants available with 512 GB NVMe PCIe SSD and memory from 8GB to 16 GB RAM.

The 16inch laptop is sleek and lightweight, perfect for carrying in a suitcase to bag pack. Due to the pandemic, business meetings are held via virtual conference apps. The laptop comes with a 1080 FHD camera. The power button doubles for a fingerprint sensor, so this added protection for the user. Also the Notebook as Huawei Share and the facility to connect with other Huawei devices. The audio is important, with 2 speakers and 4 microphones, you are ready for your conversation.

With a backlit keyboard, you have nothing to worry about typing the text in low light conditions. The sound quality of the stereo speakers is good of the lack of low bass. But the Mids. and treble is good, maybe I am asking too much from a notebook. Thanks to the TÜV Rheinland Low Blue Light Certification, the IPS panel is good and comfortable for the eyes. It has WI-FI 6 network adapter and works faster with the help of a Wi-Fi 6 router.
