Nikon Middle East officially launches the Nikon Z6 mirrorless camera & opening of ‘Nikon Experience Zone’January 18, 2019
During the month of November 2018, Nikon Middle East had launched the Z7 Mirrorless camera and had given us a preview of the Nikon Z6 camera. Along with the opening of its first-ever ‘Nikon Experience Zone’ at Grand stores in Garhoud, Dubai, they launched the Z6 Mirrorless camera with inviting the Press and Distributors.
NIKON Z6 Camera
This would be Nikon’s 2nd Mirrorless camera launched in this region after the Z7. The Nikon Z6 can record records 3840 x 2160 (4K UHD) video at up to 30 frames per second (progressive) and can also record at 25p and 24p frame rates. 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) video can be recorded at multiple frame rates and there is also a Full HD slow-motion video recording feature, which allows for 4x (30p and 25p) and 5x 24p slow-motion videos. Z6 records in MOV and MP4 formats and utilizes H.264/MPEG-4 video coding.
The camera offers a variety of usability upgrades like focus peaking during 4K video recording, organic exposure levels through the electronic viewfinder and quiet adjustments using the NIKKOR S-Line lenses’ new control ring. The Nikon Z6 performs full-pixel readout for full sensor width 4K UHD video recording and thus does not perform pixel binning or cropping. It reads 6K video and then resamples to 4K output, resulting in impressive image quality.
Adding to the Z clan is the new NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S, an ultra-wide-angle zoom lens that packs superior optical performance along with added portability, agility and operability. The new Z-mount system that fully utilises short flange focal distance, the NIKKOR Z 14-30mm f/4 S is part of the S-Line1 lenses and is a compact and highly practical lens for landscape and cityscape photography. Covering a dynamic ultra-wide angle of 14mm to a wide angle of 30mm with a constant maximum aperture of f/4 throughout the range, the lens is versatile for capturing a variety of scenes without the need for a lens change.
The New Nikon Z-Mount
Nikon Z-mount (stylised as ℤ) is an interchangeable lens mount developed by Nikon for its full-frame mirrorless digital cameras. Nikon full-frame digital SLR cameras have used the Nikon F-mount, with its 44mm diameter, since 1959. The FTZ lens adapter allows many F-mount lenses to be used on Z-mount cameras. The 55mm diameter of the Nikon Z-mount is the largest in current use. It is much larger than the F-mount, the 46.1mm Sony E that is used by all Sony mirrorless cameras, including those with a full-frame sensor.
As mentioned during the presentation, the Z-mount with a large inner diameter and short flange focal distance, compact lenses can be designed that allow more light in, to hit the sensor. Using the latest in design and optical innovations, NIKKOR Z lenses are able to deliver improved low-light performance and edge-to-edge detail in both stills and video.
