Key Takeaways

  • HONOR will showcase its Robot Phone at LEAP 2026 in Riyadh, emphasizing its AI capabilities and ecosystem connectivity.
  • The event highlights HONOR’s transition from broad AI promises to practical products as it aims to demonstrate real-world applications.
  • With a growth of 35% in smartphone shipments in the Middle East during H1 2026, HONOR positions itself as a strong competitor at LEAP.
  • The HONOR booth will feature smartphones and other devices, showcasing their compatibility and how they work together in real-life scenarios.
  • Key questions for consumers include regional availability, AI support in Arabic, privacy controls, and long-term software support.

HONOR puts LEAP 2026 at the centre of its regional AI story

HONOR will participate in LEAP 2026 in Riyadh from 31 August to 3 September. Its Robot Phone will lead the company’s showcase.

The event takes place at the Riyadh Exhibition and Convention Centre in Malham. LEAP brings technology companies, investors, policymakers and startups together in Saudi Arabia.

HONOR will present under the theme “Alpha Plan: From Vision to Reality.” The wording signals a shift from broad AI promises towards products and connected experiences.

That distinction matters. AI features now appear across almost every device launch, yet consumers still need clear reasons to use them each day.

Robot Phone becomes the headline attraction

HONOR describes Robot Phone as the world’s first device in this new category. CriticReviewer treats that description as a company claim, not an independent classification.

The device combines a smartphone with a motorised camera system and what HONOR calls embodied AI. It can move its camera to follow subjects and support cinematic capture.

HONOR launched Robot Phone globally on 12 August, shortly before LEAP. The Riyadh appearance will place it before a large Middle Eastern technology audience.

However, the most useful demonstrations should go beyond movement alone. Visitors will want to see how reliably the system tracks people, understands scenes and handles daily use.

Regional pricing and availability were not included in the LEAP announcement. Buyers should therefore treat the event as a technology showcase unless HONOR confirms local sales details.

What visitors can expect at the HONOR booth

Robot Phone may attract the cameras, but HONOR plans a wider ecosystem presentation. The booth will include smartphones, tablets, wearables and other connected devices.

HONOR says it will arrange these products around real-life scenarios. The goal is to show how information and tasks can move across screens and device categories.

That approach is more useful than displaying specifications in isolation. Ecosystem value depends on how easily devices discover, connect and share information with each other.

Visitors should also expect interactive demonstrations and engagement activities. These sessions could reveal how mature the software feels outside a controlled keynote presentation.

HONOR Regional CMO Lei Kunming is scheduled to deliver a LEAP main-stage keynote. The session carries the same “Alpha Plan: From Vision to Reality” title.

The ecosystem message reaches beyond HONOR devices

HONOR has increasingly promoted cross-platform compatibility as part of its ecosystem strategy. Its regional communication specifically highlights links with iOS and Apple devices.

This matters because many households and workplaces use mixed platforms. A closed ecosystem can be powerful, but it also limits flexibility for consumers with existing products.

LEAP gives HONOR an opportunity to demonstrate whether this compatibility feels genuinely seamless. File sharing and collaboration should work without complicated setup or repeated permissions.

The company also needs to explain how its AI features manage personal data. Clear privacy controls will matter as devices share more context across phones, tablets and computers.

Saudi Arabia is more than an exhibition location

HONOR’s LEAP participation also reflects Saudi Arabia’s expanding role in regional technology. The Kingdom continues to invest in digital infrastructure, AI and new economic sectors.

For international brands, Riyadh now offers access to consumers, government stakeholders, investors and enterprise buyers within one event. That makes LEAP strategically valuable.

HONOR has participated in earlier LEAP editions, including a regional Magic6 Pro launch in 2024. Its 2026 return moves the conversation towards connected AI devices.

The move also supports HONOR’s wider effort to build stronger visibility across Saudi Arabia and the Middle East. Still, consistent retail support must follow major showcase moments.

HONOR enters LEAP with strong Middle East shipment momentum

The timing of the exhibition is important. HONOR says Omdia data shows its Middle East smartphone shipments grew 35% year on year during H1 2026.

The same data indicates that total regional smartphone shipments fell 13% during the period. HONOR was reportedly the only leading vendor to grow across the first half.

HONOR also says it recorded 73% year-on-year growth in Q1 2026. It then remained the Middle East’s second-largest smartphone brand during Q2.

These figures give the LEAP showcase a stronger commercial backdrop. HONOR is not presenting its AI plans from the position of a small or static regional player.

Its broad portfolio likely supports that momentum. The X Series targets value and durability, while the Number Series covers the mid-premium segment. Magic devices address flagship buyers.

Tablets, wearables, audio products and PCs can extend the relationship after a smartphone purchase. They also give HONOR more opportunities to demonstrate ecosystem benefits.

What the growth figures do — and do not — prove

Shipment growth shows stronger channel activity and market presence. It does not automatically prove that every shipped device reached an end customer during the same period.

The wider market decline also adds context. A 35% increase is significant, but maintaining that pace may become harder if regional demand remains under pressure.

HONOR now needs to convert shipment momentum into long-term trust. Software support, after-sales service, product availability and stable pricing will influence that outcome.

LEAP can strengthen awareness, especially around Robot Phone. Yet repeat purchases will depend on daily reliability more than the spectacle of one exhibition demonstration.

CriticReviewer perspective

HONOR’s LEAP 2026 story connects two developments: a highly visible AI hardware showcase and measurable regional business growth.

Robot Phone gives the company a distinctive attraction in Riyadh. The wider ecosystem presentation could be more important if it demonstrates useful connections across everyday devices.

For Middle East consumers, four questions remain central: regional availability, Arabic-language AI support, privacy controls and long-term software support.

If HONOR addresses those areas clearly, LEAP can become more than a showcase. It can show how the Alpha Plan will translate into practical regional experiences.
