Introduction
OPPO officially launched its Reno14 Series in the UAE last week, combining style and AI to create next-gen mobile creativity across three stunning new devices. The Reno14 F 5G, Reno14 5G, and Reno14 Pro 5G bring cutting-edge imaging, performance, and durable design. Each phone aims to elevate everyday experiences. With help from Google Gemini AI, OPPO unlocks smarter photography, fluid productivity, and reliable performance — all within a sleek, IP69-rated body for the UAE’s active lifestyle.

Thanks to the PR agency, I had the opportunity to interview Hina Iqbal, Head of Training and Product Expert at OPPO. These questions were asked on the basis of the launch of the Oppo Reno14 series and its features.
With the launch of the OPPO 14 series in the UAE market, which other countries does OPPO plan to launch the same devices in?
The UAE represents a strategic cornerstone for our regional expansion strategy. Following our successful launch here, we’re implementing a phased rollout across the broader MENA region, leveraging our Cross-Country Warranty Service infrastructure that already spans the GCC where we see similar consumer preferences for premium mobile photography and AI-powered productivity features.

Beyond the GCC, we expanded in North Africa and the broader Middle East, where our localized approach to product development, particularly our focus on low-light photography and durability features, addresses real consumer needs. The learnings from our UAE launch, especially around AI Flash Photography adoption and underwater video usage patterns, will inform our market entry strategies across these territories.
How do you see the mid-range smartphone market in the UAE?
The UAE’s mid-range smartphone segment is experiencing a fundamental transformation. We’re witnessing a convergence where hardware specifications are becoming commoditized, but user expectations for premium experiences remain high. This creates a unique opportunity for brands that can deliver flagship-level capabilities through intelligent software and AI integration.

We also observed that many UAE users enjoy swimming to stay active during the hot summer months. Building on the positive feedback for our previous generation’s underwater photo capabilities, we’ve now upgraded the Reno14 Series to support Underwater 4K Video.
The market is shifting away from the traditional perception that a higher price equates to superior quality, with consumers increasingly prioritizing value and cost-effectiveness in their purchasing decisions. Consumers are willing to invest in devices that offer genuine utility and longevity, which is why our comprehensive warranty programs and trade-in initiatives resonate strongly.
Will the IP69 rating become a standard feature in all OPPO phones?
IP69 rating represents our commitment to delivering uncompromising durability, and yes, we’re strategically moving toward making advanced water and dust resistance a standard across our portfolio based on an understanding of regional requirements.

In markets like the UAE, where outdoor activities, beach culture, and swimming are integral to daily life, superior water resistance isn’t a luxury feature but an essential functionality. Our decision to implement IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings across the entire Reno14 series, including the more accessible F model, demonstrates this philosophy, ensuring all OPPO users can confidently use their phones in any environment.
When using the OPPO Reno14 series phone underwater, how deep can you go for underwater videography? How long can you use the phone underwater in one session?
Our IP68 and IP69 certifications ensure reliable freshwater performance up to 2 meters depth for continuous periods of 30 minutes per session. This specification is designed around real-world usage patterns we identified through extensive user research in the region.

Building on the positive feedback we received from our previous generation’s underwater photo capabilities, we’ve now upgraded the Reno14 Series to support Underwater 4K Video. The 4K underwater video capability is optimised for swimming pool depths and shallow water activities common in the UAE. Beyond the technical specifications, we’ve invested significantly in software optimization to ensure color accuracy and image stabilization work effectively in aquatic environments, addressing the unique challenges of underwater photography that conventional waterproofing doesn’t solve.
We recommend users follow proper device safety protocols, including ensuring ports are completely dry after ejecting the water. We have also integrated smart sensors that alert users when conditions aren’t optimal for underwater use, prioritizing device longevity over short-term functionality.
Do you see all future OPPO mobiles coming with bigger batteries?
Not all future OPPO smartphones will simply rely on bigger batteries. Battery innovation is shifting from just mAh numbers to intelligent power management ecosystems.
With the Reno14 series, our 6000–6200mAh batteries already deliver over two days of usage, but the real leap forward comes from the synergy of capacity, charging speed, and AI-driven power optimization.

Our priority is to eliminate battery anxiety—not just through larger batteries, but by using AI to predict user habits, optimize background processes, and extend real-world battery life. Coupled with SUPERVOOC 80W wired and 50W wireless fast charging, we’re ensuring users spend less time worrying about power and more time enjoying their devices.
Looking ahead, future OPPO models will feature smarter, adaptive charging systems that learn from user behavior and environmental conditions to maintain battery health and performance over the long term.
What is the market share of OPPO mobiles in the UAE?
OPPO has been continuously establishing a strong and growing presence in the UAE’s premium and mid-premium segments. Our focus isn’t merely on market share percentages, but on creating meaningful relationships with users who choose OPPO for our innovation leadership.

Our strategic partnerships with key retailers like Sharaf DG, Emax, and Jumbo Electronics, combined with our comprehensive service network, have positioned us as a trusted choice for consumers seeking reliable, feature-rich devices. The positive response to our previous generation’s underwater photography capabilities and the enthusiasm surrounding the Reno14 Series launch indicate a growing market reception and brand loyalty.
As you have a tie-up with Google, can consumers expect more AI features in the future in the OPPO 14 series of phones?
Our collaboration with Google represents a fundamental shift toward system-level AI integration that will continuously evolve. The current Gemini integration is just the foundation. Moving forward, we’re working on deeper AI capabilities built into our ColorOS.

Further, Gemini will soon be integrated into OPPO apps like Notes, Calendar, and Clock. With just one prompt, users can pull information, complete tasks, and manage their day more efficiently in natural language, activated through the side button.
The partnership allows us to leverage Google’s AI infrastructure while maintaining OPPO’s focus on practical, user-centric applications. Future updates will introduce more intuitive voice interactions, enhanced multilingual support, particularly relevant for the UAE’s diverse population, and AI-powered personalization that adapts to individual usage patterns.
The low-light flash feature on the OPPO 14 series of phones. How does it work differently from the general Flash mode on other brand phones?
Our AI Flash Photography system represents a complete reimagining of mobile flash technology. Unlike traditional flashes, our AI-powered dual and triple-flash systems dynamically adapt to the lighting conditions around you. Whether you’re capturing a portrait at a night majlis or snapping group shots at an indoor gathering, you’ll get bright, clear, and naturally balanced images—without harsh shadows or overexposure.

This innovation is especially meaningful in regions like ours, where low-light environments are a part of daily life. OPPO’s AI Flash ensures every moment is captured just as vividly as you experienced it.
Most importantly, our AI algorithms are trained on professional photography principles, understanding concepts like fill lighting, key lighting, and ambient balance. This means users get professional-quality results without technical expertise, where the system makes intelligent decisions about when to use subtle fill flash versus full illumination, creating naturally lit images that rival professional studio conditions.
