I was invited by the BenQ team to the launch of their latest ScreenBar Series in the UAE. These are the new line-up includes the flagship ScreenBar Halo 2 alongside the ScreenBar Pro in Black and Silver editions.

The launch event, themed Complete Illumination. Maximum Comfort., highlights BenQ’s focus on smarter lighting for modern digital workspaces. The new ScreenBar range is designed for creators, gamers, and professionals seeking improved visual comfort and productivity.
Four Years of Research Behind ScreenBar Halo 2
Developed over four years, the ScreenBar Halo 2 sets a new benchmark for eye comfort with its advanced dual-light design.It delivers balanced front and rear illumination, reducing harsh contrast between the screen and surrounding environment.
Wider Lighting Coverage to Reduce Eye Fatigue
The triple-curvature backlight design expands lighting coverage by an impressive 423%. This wider illumination significantly reduces visual fatigue during long working or gaming sessions.
ASYM-Light Technology for Glare-Free Viewing
The front light uses BenQ’s ASYM-Light technology, featuring an asymmetrical optical design with an 18-degree cut-off angle. This design prevents screen glare while ensuring light never directly hits the user’s eyes.
University-Backed Research for Balanced Lighting
BenQ collaborated with the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology to validate the ScreenBar Halo 2’s lighting performance. The result is an ANSI-standard luminance ratio maintained within 3:1 between the screen and its surroundings.

ScreenBar Pro Design Built for Monitor Compatibility
The ScreenBar Pro Black and Silver editions continue BenQ’s design-led approach to functional lighting.
They feature a gravity-based zinc-alloy clamp that supports flat, curved, thin, and thick monitors without damage. Both ScreenBar models include smart features such as auto-dimming, auto-on and off, and memory settings. These functions allow users to personalise lighting based on their workspace and daily routines.
Drawing from insights highlighted during the Middle East launch, the ScreenBar Halo 2 emphasizes more intelligent lighting. The device also offers more exhaustive coverage and boasts a refined design. This makes it a versatile solution for modern workspaces. The design has been co-developed with MINIMAL Design, led by former Nike Global Creative Director Scott Wilson. The resulting metallic finish gives a minimalist profile. This design blends into premium home offices and studio setups. It complements BenQ’s PD Designer, EX MOBIUZ, GW Eye Care and MA MacBook monitor lines.
Precision Control for Creative Professionals
We know professionals demand precision in lighting,” said JC Pan, Chief Product Designer at BenQ Smart Lighting. “That’s why we’ve re-engineered the controller, making it intuitive and precise. The anti-fingerprint coated wireless control dial lets users smoothly adjust brightness from 0 to 100 per cent. It also allows adjustment of colour temperature from 2700K to 6500K. This is perfect for colour grading, content creation, or late-night work.”
