
Huawei-50-Pro
Huawei’s P Series of smartphone in which the letter “P” stands for “Platinium” and highlight, of the smartphone is the camera for photography and videography. The 1st P Series phone was the P9 series which was the start of the multi-lens camera technology in the smartphone. Later models like Huawei P20, P30 and P40 pushed, the boundaries in smartphone photography with a lot of innovations.

So! here is the Huawei P50 Pro smartphone which is Huawei’s flagship smartphone for 2022 for the middle east market. As you open the box, you will find the powerful beautiful P50 Pro smartphone protected in a translucent covering. Below the smartphone, you will find the Protective case, SIM Ejector tool, 66W Huawei supercharger and USB Type C cable.
The body and feel of the smartphone are very premium and fits perfectly in the hand.

The phone comes with a 6.6inch OLED Display with a 120Hz refresh rate and has a resolution of 1228 x 2700pixels. The screen support 10bit colour and HDR 10. The phone has an under-screen optical fingerprint scanner.

The front camera which is embedded in the display comes with a 13MP Selfie camera with an F2.4 wide lens.
When you turn the phone, you can see the beautiful Cocoa Gold back with a shiny mirror-like finish.
It has a bulging rounded vertical rectangle camera module that houses 2 circular black disks which looks like a reel tapes unit. The cameras have Quad Leica optics cameras.

Which, consist of a 50MP Main Camera, a 64MP Tele lens with OIS and 13MP Ultra Wide Lens and a 40MP Monochrome Lens. It also has a dual LED flash.
On the right, we have the volume rocker and power button with a red line indication. On the top, you have the speaker and mic unit. The left side is clean with no buttons. And The bottom has the Dual Hybrid SIM Card Tray, USB Type C port, speaker and mic.

The review unit which I have received comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB ROM or you can say Storage.
It has Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 Processor and has EMUI 12 as Operating System. And this is a 4G smartphone and the mobile weighs around 197grams and feels great and premium in the hand.
The Review
For testing the P50 Pro cameras, I went around to a few places in Dubai and clicked a few snaps with the phone and you can see the quality of the colour vibrancies’ captured by the lens.

Here is the shot of the UAE Flag at the La Mer North side of the beach at 1x and .. here is it at 10x digital zoom.

This is shot clicked against the sunlight, you can see the lens adjusted brightness and using the AI algorithm and lens exposer.
As we spoke about the colour vibrancy, here are the images where you can see the different colours captured making it look realistic and even the shadows are perfect as if, you are seeing with your eyes.
I was even able to capture Wide angle images which looked like postcard photographs.
I clicked some selfies, portraits and images of my relatives who agreed to be part of my review.

For capturing smiling faces, The phone has the smile option which has to be activated from the setting under the camera option.
These are some of the Low light or night shots.

This is night shot image is taken at least 400meters zoomed in.
The P50 Pro has a dedicated monochrome camera and can be activated, under the more option in the camera app and, here are some of the samples clicked with the phone.

In Photo mode, You can digitally zoom up to 100x. This is a close up of the sunset and here is a shot of a Minar of the mosque at 1x and zoomed shot 32x.
This shot of the budding leaves clicked with the macro lens. When zoomed in, you can see the thin veins of the leaf which I could not see with my naked eye.

When it comes to videos. you can click 4K video with 16:9 ratios and you can shoot at 30FPS and 60FPS.

The video was shot with FullHD at 30FPS of the Burj Khalifa from the Dubai Mall Fountain Area. This video was shot handheld, the continuous OIS helped with Stabilized video and digitally max zoomed at 20x.
You can shoot timelapse videos at wide-angle, 1x, 4x and 10x and you can use the speed from 15x, 90x, 240x, 600x and 1800x. You can shoot Slow-motion videos at 1x with speeds from 4x, 8x and 32x. The phone also can shoot dual-camera mode where you can click a video with yourself and the main rear camera activated.
The camera performed beautifully under low light conditions. Along with the Camera, the sound is very important and the P50 Pro comes with stereo speakers and captures sound while zooming too.
You can create smaller videos with preset options.
The P50 Pro comes with a 4360 mAh battery which lasted more than a day and more on average usage of mobile, web surfing and watching videos.

The P50 Pro comes with a 66Watt supercharger. During the testing, I got 75% battery in 30mins.
Overall the camera performance was excellent as the images clicked had perfect contrast and, clicked image was similar as If you are seeing in real life. The camera didn’t try to change or create artificial colouring and imaging which I have come across in some of the other smartphones.

The Huawei P50 pro has Petal Search and App Gallery and I could have all the required social apps downloaded and installed on the phone.
Recommendation

P50 Pro phone is recommended for mobile videographers, photographers as it can shoot 4K at 60 FPS and crystal clear sound capturing mics with zoomed mic sound capture. The Leica lens has proven it is the best in the market. The stereo speakers are great and you can enjoy playing video games or listening to your favourite music.
