Here is the testing of MG’s Marvel R (EV) was a pure pleasure. I was lucky to be part of the few journalists to test the MG Marvel R (EV) in the UAE. It is an Electric cross-over type 4 seater design with big booty space perfect for urban families and comfortable riding. It has a lot of the latest luxurious features for a fast EV automobile. MG’s Marvel R is the top of the range of MG’s Marvel edition which is performance-driven.
I had the EV vehicle for 3 days, so for the best experience, I drove around Dubai. The vehicle was delivered to us by Inter Emirates Motors LLC a subsidiary of Ali & Sons Holding LLC. Also known as IEM in short.
Let us start with the body of the vehicle.

The MG’s Marvel R comes with a dimension of 4674mm x 1919mm x 1618 (with shark fin). It has a Wheelbase of 2804mm. The vehicle has a min. ground clearance of 131.9mm. It can deliver Max net power (kW) Power 80 (rear left) + 52 (rear right) + 80 (front) and Max torque (Nm) of 255 (rear left) + 155 (rear right) + 255 (front)

At first, you will notice the full white pearl piano finish stylish body resembling a sports SUV type automobile. The bonnet has the MG Logo in a chrome finish. The thing that stands out is the thin LED White light which runs across the front hood curving on both sides with side light indicators.

On both sides has the LED Cluster headlight, day running light and headlight. Below the front bonnet, you can see a good amount of gap which is good for the air take and keeping the radiator and AC unit cool. You will also notice the camera and parking sensors in the front which is part are of the 360-degree camera setup and parking system.

The MG’s Marvel R comes with R19 Tires which are radial tires with 19-inch diameters with Chrome and Grey Finish Alloy Wheels. All four wheels come with Discs brakes.

On the back, beautiful LED lights are embedded into the body of the vehicle. The back hatch door has the Glossy Chrome MG Logo with Marvel R and electric written on the right side and AWD written on the right side.

The rear view wide-angle camera is just below the hatch door on the bumper, which is part of the 360-degree parking camera system. Just below the bumper, hugging the vehicle’s body is the chrome finish tail fender.

On the top side of the body, you will find the safety roof rails which add a design element and can protect the sunroof. The panoramic sunroof can be opened with a press of a button from the top centre console of the vehicle. There are two layers on the top, 1st the opaque hard roof which allows little sunlight into the cabin but avoids the heat and direct sunlight, and the 2nd is fully openable panoramic Sunroof glass which can be opened in separate 7 different positions.
The occupants can enjoy watching the sky and enjoying nature while getting fresh air. Sorry, I could do that as it is summertime and while I was testing, the climate was dusty. it would be great to drive around the countryside and enjoy the evening sky.

Now, let us talk about the ride

Generally, for the test drives, I drive around at a cruising speed of 110 – 115 km/h on the highway which I find good speed where I don’t have to drive fast or too much braking to overtake cars on the road.
On Accelerating, I didn’t feel any drag. Even during the sharp turn, the vehicle’s centre of gravity was good. With the high clearance, 19-inch tires and great suspension, going over the speed bumps was very smooth. The braking system was smooth and didn’t feel any jerks.
This vehicle can provide a perfect ride for people who like a long-distance road trips and look for a smooth comfortable drive.

I didn’t require to charge the vehicle during my test ride. MG company mentions 5% -80% in 43mins. The EV can go up to a max of 200km/h.
The best part is the 0-100km/h in 4.9 secs and can go up to 370 km on a single charge.
MG has mentioned Basic Vehicle Warranty – 7 Years / 150,000km, HV Electric Drive System – 7 years / 150,000km and Power pack (HV battery) – 7 years / 150,000km. Anti-perforation – 7 years/unlimited and Road assistance – 1st year included 2nd to 7th year for all customers who have a complete service record with an MG dealer.
The pricing and availability are not yet shared with us along the test drive. I will share once I get it from IEM or MG.
So viewers, if you are looking to buy a Zero Emission vehicle, viewers should try the test drive MG Marvel R (EV) whenever available.
