ViewSonic is well known from the ’90s and I remember my first monitor which was CRT 15” was purchased with Intel Pentium III CPU and I had also worked on a 21” ViewSonic CRT monitor at my office which was a TruColor Monitor with software in a CD for graphic work.
ViewSonic brand logo features Gouldian finches, colourful birds native to Australia which so unique and beautiful and stands out from the competition.
ViewSonic has specialized in visual display technology—including liquid-crystal displays, projectors, and interactive whiteboards—as well as digital white-boarding software. The company provides solutions in three key markets: education, enterprise, and entertainment.
I have received the ViewSonic 27″ Multi-touchscreen Monitor – TD2760 for review and I have used for almost a month. It was launched in October 2019 and please find the details below.
Body Specifications
It comes with an LCD display of 27” with a Full 1920 x 1080 HD resolution and a static contrast ratio of 3,000:1. It has got 50,000,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and brightness 230 cd/m2. As per the website, the monitor supposed to have 30,000 hours of backlight life and supports 16.7m colours. It has got a 10-point multi-touch display.
It is compatibility works with operating systems such as Windows 10, Linux, Chrome, and Android. Built-in connectivity options include DisplayPort, HDMI, and VGA ports along with a VESA compatible mount design, offering additional convenience for use as a wall-mount display. With serial port RS232 and HDMI CEC, the TD2760 can directly control connected devices.
The Review
The ViewSonic review unit has come in brown packaging with single-colour black printing. The box dimension 29.6 x 20.7 x 8.0 inches and weighing the gross weight of 10.2 Kgs. The Monitor weighs 7.9kgs and out which the net weight without the stand is 5.5kgs.
The 27” multi-touch monitor comes with dimension of 26.0 (W) x 16.2 (H) x 2.3(D) inches and with stand 26.0 (W) x 17.5(H) x 9.4(D) inches.
The most unique feature in the ViewSonic monitor is the 10 Multi-touch screen display and the VESA Stand which can be tilted to horizontal style parallel to the table the monitor kept on. It can be mounted on the wall too with additional wall fittings.
The MVA (Multidomain Vertical Alignment) panel has an LCD panel with LED Backlighting is protected with Chemical Tempered, hardness ≧6H with AG coating with 5% Haze and monitor and it is also not a fingerprint magnet. The screen panel has 1.1 mm Cover Glass Thickness. The screen is quite tough and durable compared to other monitors in a similar price range.
Due to this feature, the ViewSonic TD2760 monitor can be used in the commercial industry and home use too.
During the review, the monitor was tested for multi-touch and colour production and as for viewing comfort.
The multi-touch test performed with ease and had no issues, the colour reproduction was not up to my liking and colours were not TruColor. But with the long hour viewing, there was no issue as the monitor has Blue Light Filter and it is Flicker-Free which avoided stress to my eyes and even viewing back to back two movies, it was a comfortable experience.
It has got dual audio speakers which are 2 Watt and it didn’t appeal to me and it could be used for references for an audio check.
The monitor comes with Energy Star Certification, this monitor reduces environmental impact over its lifecycle, making it a great eco-friendly, long-term investment.
In the review test, the ViewSonic monitor was also used as a secondary monitor for editing purpose and had issues in the colour match as the monitor supports 50Hz and 60Hz and can only provide 1920 x 1080 pixels and could not colour calibrate to my preferences.
The monitor comes with preset colour gamut options in the menu and you can also set your colour gamut preference under the user mode.
Features which I didn’t like in the monitor is the bezel which quite thick compared to monitors available in the year 2020. Maybe the MVA panel requires a thick bezel. We understand in commercial, this monitor would perfectly fit in the style of the strong sturdy panel and can withstand heavy handling but for home, styling matters and the thick bezel is not appealing to the eyes.
There are two USB 3.1 Type-A ports on the left-hand side of the back panel unit which is an awkward position to use the ports as the monitor cannot be rotation horizontally. The controls of the monitor are on the right-hand side and have easy access with 5 buttons.
As for the inputs which are on the back panel of the monitor on the bottom side, it comes with AC Power input, DisplayPort, HDMI 1.4, VGA, USB 3.1 Type B, RS232, Audio Out, Audio In and comes with Kensington® Lock Slot.
Is ViewSonic (TD 2760) monitor good for Commercial usage and where can be used?
The ViewSonic (TD 2760) monitor built quality is very sturdy and MVA panel looks like can withstand heavy rough usage which normally happens in many places. As there is no branding on the front bezel, the clients can brand their logo on the bezel. With the 10 multi-touch display and tilt-table VESA stand, it can be used in any environment as per the user preference.
The Monitor can be used in shopping area cash counters, cafes, restaurants and many other places where there is a requirement of touch panel monitors. With the 27” multi-touch screen display monitor, it will ideal for the operator to work faster with ease. As the Monitor displays are made of MVA panels with 1.1 mm thickness, it can be used in hospitals and the education sector. It can be mounted on walls too with the right VESA fitting. It can be used as an interactive panel in a kiosk. But I am not sure the Monitor display is liquid spillage proof.
Conclusion
The ViewSonic (TD 2760) multi-touch screen monitor is good for commercial usage with sturdy MVA panel. The monitor can be used by the graphic artist or digital painter as you can use a stylus but not sure of the Trucolor reproduction on the screen. It can be used as an interactive panel for students and kids in the education sector. You can click and drag and do typing directly on the monitor with the Windows 10 support that makes the monitor into a big tablet. If the resolution could have been more than Full 1920 x 1080 HD and more than 60Hz then could be a great option for interactive gaming monitor and also thinner bezel. Overall the product is good for the price.
