Introduction
The young brand TOZO has constantly proved that you can make a brand known among competitors with the right technical and marketing team. As mentioned, I have reviewed many TOZO wearable products, including earbuds (close-type and open-type), headphones, and smartwatches. Their packaging, device quality, and budget-friendly pricing compared to competitors have always impressed me. Now, the new TOZO Open EarRing earbuds, which I have got for review. I have used it for a month, and it impressed me again with the quality and price.
The new TOZO Open EarRing earbuds are different in design and styling from the past TOZO products I have reviewed. The open-ear design earbuds hang on your ears while still providing great-quality music. Let’s dive deeper into the design and other details.
Design & Specification
The TOZO Open EarRing earbuds review unit arrived in a white box featuring images of the device in B&W with some details mentioned in Silver embossed text and design on the sides and back. The box opens from the top side, and inside, you will find a plastic tray with the device, USB Type-C charging cable, and Quick Guide & User Manual.
TOZO Open EarRing Case
I reviewed the unit in matte black, with the TOZO logo on the top of the cover in shiny black. There is a digital B&W display in front of the case. The entire body is made of ABS plastic. You have the USB Type-C port and reset & connecting button on the backside. The bottom side is flat, which helps keep the case upright. The Open EarRing case has a 400 mAh battery, which can fully charge the earbuds and provide 40 hours of playtime. The charging case takes around two hours to fully charge from zero to 100%.
The charging case can be charged using the USB Type-C cable, but it does not support wireless charging. When you open the cover, you see the “L” and “R” indications on the case. Magnetic pins inside the case hold the earbuds securely during charging. The front digital display shows the case’s battery level when closed and charging. Removing and placing any earbud back in the case displays the earbuds’ battery levels with separate indicators.
TOZO Open EarRing Earbuds
The TOZO Open EarRing earbuds are light and ergonomically shaped to fit into all ears. The earbuds have two parts, which are connected with memory steel wire and high-resilience, skin-friendly silicone. The earbud speaker and battery unit are made of ABS plastic, which comes in a matt black colour. The battery unit has the logo “TOZO” embossed in shiny black. The speaker unit is almost round, with one elongated speaker grille on the bottom. Each earbud is marked with “L” and “R” on the respective earbud’s battery unit. The build quality feels solid, thanks to the earbuds’ combination of plastic and metal components.
The TOZO Earbuds come with φ12mm dynamic driver, which responds to 20Hz – 20 kHz frequency range. It supports audio codecs like AAC & SBC. The earbuds have a 60 mAh battery and provide 10 hours of playtime at 50% volume on a single charge and 40 hours with the recharging in the case. It takes around 1.5 hours to charge from zero to 100% and weighs only 5.1 grams each. The IPX5 rating protects the earbuds from dirt, sweat, and water dropouts, ensuring they remain undamaged. The earbuds work on Bluetooth 5.3 version and provide a 10-meter range. You can use a single earbud or both.
The TOZO Open EarRing earbuds controls are placed on the right & left earbuds’ Battery unit. On both the earbuds (right & left), you can control the Play/Pause/Stop, answer call/reject/ hold calls. It would help to use the right earbud to increase the volume and the next song. Use the left earbud to lower the volume and change to the previous song. You can control it from the TOZO App on your smartphone for more features and equaliser settings.
Customisation – TOZO App
For those reading my review, you must first download the TOZO app from the Google Play Store or iOS store. Once you download the app, remove the earbuds from the charging case, go to your Bluetooth settings on your smartphone and search for “TOZO Open EarRing earbuds”. Then, pair the earbuds and open the TOZO app; you will find the TOZO Open EarRing earbuds ready to connect with your app. Once the app pairing is done, please check the settings for updates, and if there are any updates, please update the earbuds by following the instructions on the app.
The app shows the earbuds’ battery level, as well as the EQ and other modes. It has a dedicated Equalizer Section, and you can customise your settings. It would help if you had both earbuds outside the case to see the EQ, or you would not be able to see it on your TOZO App.
Click on the top right gear icon to learn about the Touch Control and update the firmware. You can also switch On/Off Low Latency and add another device from the App.
Microphone on voice and video calls
The TOZO Open EarRing earbuds were tested for Google Meet video calls, and the quality of the brother’s voice was natural. Even my voice was verified as natural by my brother. The microphone effectively captures my voice, making conversations clearer during calls.
Sound Quality of TOZO Open EarRing
The TOZO Open EarRing earbuds have φ12mm dynamic drivers and a built-in microphone. The speaker system produces frequencies between 20Hz and 20 kHz and supports both AAC and SBC audio codecs.
In standard mode, the earbuds deliver clear sound quality with good bass. The TOZO app lets you adjust bass and treble to match your preferences, enhancing your listening experience.
The open-type design earbuds lack ANC support, and while the bass is good, it isn’t as deep as in-ear design earbuds.
Connectivity and Battery Life
The TOZO Open EarRing earbuds come with Bluetooth 5.3, which provides a stable connection range of 10 meters, though I found that it can extend up to 15 meters in a straight line from the source.
The earbuds can be charged in around two hours using the USB Type-C cable included in the package. A single charge can provide 10 hours of music, and with the charging case, 40 hours.
Comfort
Comfort is critical for long listening sessions, and the TOZO Open EarRing earbuds perform well. The well-ergonomically designed light earbuds weigh only 5.1 grams each, so doesn’t feel at all on the ears. As these are open-type designs, ear canals are not blocked, allowing air to flow in the ears easily. That way, these earbuds are perfect for long-term usage, especially for workouts and strenuous exercise, which can be indoors or outdoors. As these earbuds are held to the ear, they don’t fall from your ear and remain secure.
Price, Packaging, and Value
The TOZO Open EarRing earbuds are priced at AED 188. The packaging is top-notch and meets the standard of premium earbuds. Despite its affordable price point, it offers excellent sound quality, a solid build, and a range of valuable features. The package includes the TOZO Open EarRing wireless earbuds with a digital display charging case, a charging cable, a quick guide, and a user manual. Given the price and the performance, the TOZO Open EarRing earbuds provide outstanding value for anyone looking for budget-friendly, open-type earbuds.
