Samsung has been the forefront runner in the Android smartphone industry. Samsung introduces the new Galaxy A34 on 14th March 2023. I received the Samsung A34 for review around April 2023.
The Review
The Samsung Galaxy A34 (5G) is the latest Flagship smartphone from the Samsung Galaxy A series of smartphones that were released for the UAE market. The Galaxy A-Series consists of A34, A54, A14 and A24 smartphones. The device came in a slim box like the earlier A-Series. The box contained the A34 smartphone, quick start guide, bar code and USB Type-C to USB Type-C cable.
Spec & Design
The Samsung Galaxy A34 (Model No – SM-A346E) comes with a dimension of 161.3 x 78.1 x 8.2mm and weighs 199 grams. It comes with a 6.6″ flat Super AMOLED display and it has ~84.9% screen-to-body ratio. It is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. The body has a plastic frame and plastic back.
Samsung has a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels. It has ~390 ppi density with a 120Hz refresh rate and is 1000 nits (peak).
The front camera of the Samsung Galaxy A34 has 13MP. It has f/2.2, (wide) apertures with a 1/3.1″ lens. The main camera of the Galaxy A34 has got Triple camera setup, which consists of a 48MP Camera with f/1.8, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.8µm. The second camera is 8 MP, f/2.2, 123˚, (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm with OIS. The third camera is 5 MP, f/2.4, (macro), and 3x optical zoom. The cameras come with LED flash, auto-HDR, and panorama.
The right side of the body has the volume rockers and power button which also doubles for Bixby (voice assistant). The left side doesn’t have any buttons. The bottom side has a USB Type-C port with a mic and speaker. On the top, you have the MIC and Dual SIM Card Tray and just above the display, you have the earpiece and front camera.
The phones come with NFC and support Samsung Pay – supports MST and/or NFC Membership cards.
Cameras
When I received the Samsung Galaxy A34 smartphone. I have used the smartphone to click images in daylight and at night. I used the smartphone to click images and videos and even tested for heating of the device which always has been an issue with Samsung phones.
The Samsung Galaxy A34 has a 13MP Selfie camera which performed very well. The colours of the images were great and the selfies were good. There are two modes – 1x and wide angle. The wide angle is not very wide but captures a little bit more than the 1x mode. The camera has instant face detection and focus. You can click selfie motion image or video. You can use a timer to click a snap and use flash mode by which the screen brightens up as light.
Under shooting mode, you can click images and videos by pressing the volume button, voice commands, floating shutter button and showing your palm (hand gestures). The selfie camera has video stabilization. The front camera can shoot videos at 4K@30fps, and 1080p@30fps. The Samsung A34 has a fun mode which is perfect for vloggers who would like to create fun and funny videos and click images. The same can be done with the main cameras.
Let us know talk about the main cameras which have Triple cameras. The main cameras of the Samsung Galaxy A34 performed very well for the price. But as a reviewer and heavy user of the smartphone camera, I always look forward to having images clicked by the smartphone camera to be as realistic as same as real surroundings. The AI technology and effects added in the software in the system produce the digitally reproduced images which we see on the smartphone screen or computer screen.
The main camera can record 4K video recording at 24 fps & 30 fps videos and 240 fps (3840×2160). The main camera sensor captured the images and reproduced them with vibrant colours. Under the photo and video mode, you have preset of 0.6, 1x, 3x and 10x.
The camera clicks 48MP which clicks 4000 x 3000 @72Dpi image and file size from 1.97MB to 2.37MB. The Samsung Galaxy A-series released in this region comes with the latest Android 13 OS and One UI 5.1 and Mediatek MT6877V Dimensity 1080 (6 nm) and Mali-G68 MC4 GPU. The transition and opening and closing of the apps happened with ease. It comes with a 5000 mAh battery which can last more than a day with heavy usage of calls, surfing on the internet and watching videos.
The device which I got for review is the 8GB RAM with 4GB RAM Plus and comes with 128GB ROM. It has a Dual speaker setup for Stereo and comes with Bluetooth 5.3, A2DP, LE, NFC, and Zoom-in Mic which effective recording videos. The A34 supports Screen mirroring and can connect to Samsung Ecosystem’s “Smart Things” by which you can connect to your TV, computer, Projector, etc. It connects with Samsung DeX, and you can multitask and multi-control.
The Galaxy A34 smartphone and IP67-rated dust/water resistant with an Ultrasonic Fingerprint sensor for protection, it has got a Knox platform: for real-time monitoring and protection.
Who should buy the Samsung Galaxy A34 smartphone?
Samsung Galaxy A34 smartphone is the perfect mobile for Businessmen, engineers, architects, Fashion designers, Digital Artists, and Gen-Z for the latest feature required for Vlogging and a lot more.
The 48MP camera can be useful for people who would like to have Hi-Res images for big posters and even cropped photos from the same image. I have used the mobile for recording videos continuously for more than half an hour and the phone was just warm and functioned beautifully. You can use the smartphone for Samsung Pay which very well works with NFC and App.
The powerful phone is also good for mobile gamers, I have played the Asphalt 9 game and the performance of the app and graphics is smooth and the phone has a Hi-quality 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED display. I played for more than 30mins continuously and the mobile was just warm.
Verdict
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy A34 is a great flagship series smartphone with a lot of features. The screen is a flat screen with rounded edges which helps with corner damage from accidental falls. The camera performance was excellent. There was little heating of the body of the smartphone while video recording for a longer period and especially during the 4K videos.
