Since its launch in the UAE, HUAWEI has established itself as a well-known brand for technology products and devices. The brand consistently introduces the latest devices to the country. From the initial release of HUAWEI’s headphones, it has consistently delivered high-quality headphones and earbuds, meeting the latest technology and quality standards. In my reviews of the various HUAWEI earbuds launched in the UAE, the brand has yet to disappoint.
On October 18th, 2023, HUAWEI Consumer BG officially launched the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 earbuds for the UAE market. The HUAWEI team and PR sent me the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 for review a few weeks ago.
Now, let’s delve into the detailed review of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3.
Design & Specification
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3, received in the Ceramic White colour, features a case with dimensions of 46.9 mm (Height) × 65.9 mm (Width) × 24.5 mm (Depth), weighing 45.5 grams. The earbuds have dimensions of 29.1 mm (Height) × 21.8 mm (Width) × 23.7 mm (Depth), with each earbud weighing 5.8 grams. The case is equipped with a 510 mAh battery, while each earbud contains a 55mAh battery, providing 4.5 hours (with ANC enabled) or 6.5 hours (with ANC disabled) of playback. In this case, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 offers up to 22 hours (with ANC enabled) or 31 hours (with ANC disabled) of playback. The wired charging case takes about 1 hour (without earbuds), and wireless charging takes about 120 minutes (without earbuds) or 40 minutes (with earbuds).
Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 – Earbuds
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 boasts Ultra-Hearing Dual Driver technology with a φ 11 mm dynamic driver + planar diaphragm driver, covering a frequency response range of 14 Hz ~ 48 kHz. It includes 3 Silicon and 1 bone conduction microphones. The earbuds incorporate sensors such as an Accelerometer, Infrared sensor, Hall sensor, Press sensor, Touch sensor, and Bone sensor. The device features Digital cross-over, Triple Adaptive EQ, Active noise cancellation, Call noise cancellation, and Transparency Mode.
Huawei Freebuds Pro 3 – Case and Earbuds details
Connectivity is facilitated through Bluetooth 5.3 with pop-up pair support and simultaneous Bluetooth connection with dual devices. The earbuds are compatible with smartphones running EMUI10 or above. The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 holds an IP54 rating, making it splash-resistant during normal use, protecting against sweat or water splashes but not suitable for underwater use. Supported audio codecs include SBC, AAC, LDAC, and L2HC2.0. The earbuds support L2HC 2.0 and LDAC codecs and are certified by both HWA and Hi-Res Audio Wireless.

The Review
Upon opening the box, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 device greets you with its backside facing the consumer. A hologram sticker, featuring the Huawei logo, is affixed to the case, serving as the sole branding on it. In another sleeve box beneath the device, you’ll find four sizes of silicone ear tips, a wireless charging case, a USB-C charging cable, a Quick Start guide (including safety information), and a Warranty card.
Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 – Features
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 we received comes in the White Ceramic colour. Upon unboxing, the device has some charge, enabling immediate connection after removal. However, it’s advisable to fully charge the device (wired or wirelessly) before connecting to your smartphone. The earbuds can be instantly connected by bringing them near a smartphone with NFC enabled. A pop-up request appears on the screen for pairing. If this method doesn’t work, you can download the Huawei AI Life App from the App Store or Google Play Store, or scan the QR Code from the back of the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 box.
The earbuds feature multi-touch control, allowing users to swipe and pinch the earbud’s stem for various functions. This includes answering and ending calls, changing music tracks (rewind/forward/play/stop), and toggling Noise Cancellation and awareness mode.
Simply follow the steps to download the app and connect the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 to your smartphone. If you plan to connect the earbuds to another device, a long press on the button on the side of the charging case prepares it for pairing, indicated by a continuous blinking white light.
Huawei Music App on Huawei Smartphones
Testing the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 with the Huawei Music App proved to be a straightforward process. Simply opening the earbuds for pairing while having NFC enabled on the smartphone initiated a seamless connection. Once paired, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 earbuds automatically appeared in the Huawei Music App.
Within the app, under sound effects, there are numerous options to customize sound settings according to your preferences. The Huawei Music App offers dedicated presets tailored for Huawei and Honor products to enhance sound quality and the overall music experience. These preset modes include Dolby Atmos, HiFi, Electric, Vintage Vinyl, Choral, Live-House, Nostalgic, Mega Bass, Driving, 3D Surround, Melodies, Headphone, 3D Rotation, Folk, Concert Hall, ACG, Studio, Ethereal, Coffee, KTV Vibes, and Kirin (optimized by Kirin chipset). Additionally, standard modes like pop, classical, rock, jazz, dance, and more are available.
The L2HC audio format is supported, working seamlessly with Huawei phones running EMUI 13.0 or later.

Audio Quality
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 underwent extensive testing across various music genres. It includes Country, Jazz, Rock, R&B, Soul, Metal, Lounge, Techno, House, Hindi Classical, and Hindi Bollywood. The evaluation involved Hi-res quality 24-bit, 96kHz, and 320kbps Mp3 music, along with watching multiple movies. As an audiophile listener with a discerning taste for music and devices. I dedicated hours to testing, even while working on articles, including this review.
Across genres and audio formats, from intricate nuances to the deep rumble of bass, the sound was impeccable. The earbuds captured the distinct ranges of audio equipment used in songs, including guitar details, snare clarity, string pulls, vocal nuances, and the distant chirping of birds in lounge music. Even during movie sessions, I could discern the distant boom and crackling of fire sounds. When using the earbuds in ANC mode, I experienced complete isolation from my surroundings, feeling immersed in the movie scenes. I vividly recall a scene with a distant police siren that felt like it was outside my window.
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 features Pure Voice 2.0 technology, delivering clear vocal quality. During call testing on platforms like Google Meet and Zoom, both listening and speaking were clear. The Intelligent ANC 3.0, with an updated AI adaptive noise cancellation algorithm, enhanced call clarity even in noisy environments.
Connectivity
The Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 offers seamless connectivity with smartphones, laptops, or any Bluetooth 5.3-enabled device. Bluetooth version 5.3 provides a connectivity range of 10 meters and significantly improved sound quality compared to earlier versions. Notably, the earbuds support multiple device connectivity, allowing simultaneous pairing with a laptop, watch, and smartphone. You can press the reset button for a few seconds which allows you to pair additional devices.
Featuring NFC, the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 facilitates a pop-up connection with smartphones. The earbuds can be connected to Huawei smartphones and other brand phones using the Huawei AI Life App. It is available for download on the Google Play Store and iOS store.
The charging case supports wireless recharging on a Qi charging pad or a similar device. For wired charging, the USB Type-C port on the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 enables fast charging.
Price and Availability
The HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 Earbuds launch price was AED749 and comes in four colours available: – Ceramic White, Green, and Silver Frost. It is available on the Huawei website – Huawei Stores and e-commerce site and major retail outlets.
Conclusion
Highly RECOMMEND the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 for music enthusiasts seeking a comfortable pair of headphones with exceptional sound quality. With no issues during continuous use for 4-5 hours on a single charge, the earbuds and charging case performed admirably. After three recharges, the charging case still retains 40% battery.
During phone calls and online video chats, the vocal clarity was excellent. The IP54 rating ensures splash resistance during normal use, safeguarding the earbuds from sweat or minor water splashes. The earbuds support Hi-Res audio and 24-bit audio, with dedicated settings available under the Huawei Music App and Huawei AI Life App.
Ideal for music lovers, movie enthusiasts, exercise routines, work, and gaming, the HUAWEI FreeBuds Pro 3 delivers a versatile and high-quality audio experience.
Who should be using the Huawei FreeBuds Pro 3 Earbuds?
