I was invited by Al Ghandi Auto and XQuarry Adventure Park for an off-road experience in the Chevrolet and GMC off-roading vehicles. The XQuarry Adventure Park location is at the Sharjah outskirt in the Faya Mountains. ()
I got the invite from the PR agency of Al Ghandi Auto and the event started at 9 am onwards. I was part of the few media selected for this Off-Road experience. As soon as we entered the event area, we all had to sign a digital waiver form. There was the arrangement of coffee, water and sandwiches. The group was divided into 2 groups. One group was taken for an obstacle drive and the other group was taken for an off-road hill climb.
I had the opportunity to drive the Chevrolet Tahoe in the 1st group. The XQuarry team experts brief us about safety and about the whole experience of the drive. There were various already prepared obstacles – big axle twister and uphill axle twister, 40-degree side slope, big tire trail, RTI ramps to get index points and gravel slope uphill climb
This was my 1st-time experiencing Off-Roading in an SUV. Also, this is 1st time driving the Chevrolet Tahoe.
The XQuarry team gave an excellent briefing about the Tahoe Z71 vehicle. The vehicle has a 4×4 option and can rise 2 inches in height for better clear ground clearance. It is equipped with multi-buttons which is perfect for Off-Road options. The Tahoe comes with Hill-descent, Low gear option, Front collision alert, Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, HD Surround Vision (9 cameras), Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane change alert with side blind zone alert, lane keeps assist with lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, Following distance indicator and intellibeam auto High beam. The vehicle also indicates a High angle (steep or downward) position on the drive screen.
As mentioned earlier, the vehicle has multiple height adjustments for the wheels. So when we were at the obstacle course, we used the maximum height mode for better clearance with drive on lowest gear mode and camera mode switched ON the main console. I was able to choose the top 360–degree view + front left & right tires view or choose the rear tire view. But has safety I was to follow the instruction of the spotter (XQuarry) who guide me with hand gestures.
For me, the 40-degree side slope and RTI ramps was an exciting and thrill-rushing experience.
Later, we were driven by X Quarry driver on rough & tough hill climbs on the Faya mountain. After a tough terrain ride, we reached the top of the mountain, I was greeted by the beauty of the surrounding desert and mountain. Stayed for a few moments and rode back down the rough terrain road.
The event lasted for around 3.5 hours and I recommend that Off-road enthusiasts come to the XQuarry Adventure Park.
They have told us; Off-road enthusiast can bring their Off-road vehicle to the park for the whole AED150. If the new Off-road enthusiast guide and help tour and help they can use their service for an additional AED150. Make sure you bring water, drink and food as this place is far off and doesn’t provide these facilities at the park.
As for the Chevrolet Tahoe Z71 – it comes with a powerful V8 engine with a 10-speed gearbox and comes with all the latest technology features required for 3 Ton vehicle. It has proper 5 seaters with big boot space or boot space can be used for 2 more additional seats. The rear seat can be converted to 2 seaters with a handrest. The interior of the vehicle is plushy and comfortable with leather fittings. The Tahoe comes with a refrigerated central console, a big central digital screen and has driver digital console. The Tahoe comes with buttons for the driving mode. I have already mentioned the many features in the above paragraphs.
It is the perfect 4×4 option for a big family for road and Off-Road vehicles.
