TOZO is a consumer electronics brand founded in 2015, known for delivering high-quality, affordable wireless audio products and accessories. Based in the United States, TOZO quickly gained popularity on platforms like Amazon thanks to its sleek designs, solid performance, and budget-friendly pricing. TOZO products are available on Amazon.ae.
I reviewed the first portable Bluetooth speaker, TOZO PA2, in 2024. The product was excellent for its price and has an IPX8 rating.
Now, I have received TOZO PE1 from TOZO. I have had it for over a month and used it on a short journey to the desert for home use. Let us look at the product in detail. This is the second product I have received in Bluetooth speakers, and the first small portable personal Bluetooth speaker from TOZO.
Design & Specification
The TOZO PE1 has dimensions of 129×90×44 mm and weighs around 248 grams. The design is unique compared to other portable Bluetooth speakers. The PE1 is designed for mobility with an integrated carabiner hook, which adds value to the portable speaker. The speaker is IPX8 rated, submersible to 1 meter for 30 minutes. The PE1 is small, compact, and lightweight and has an integrated carabiner hook that helps clip easily onto belts, bags, bikes, or tent poles. The device came with a 43.5 mm dynamic driver and 10 W output. The PE1 has a 1200-watt built-in battery, which provides around 32 hours on a single charge. As for the connectivity, the device comes with Bluetooth 5.4 version and a 20-meter connectivity range.
The PE1 has a built-in microphone with noise cancellation. It supports voice assistants, dual-device pairing, and stereo pairing. The PE1 is made of ABS plastic with a metal carabiner and Silicone.
The Review
Packaging
The TOZO PE1 comes in a white box with the B&W product’s image and the TOZO logo on the front. On the back, the product details and a QR code for TOZO are mentioned for scanning and downloading the application. On the side of the box, you have the PE1 product with the colour option mentioned with a radio button. The box opens from the top, and inside has a plastic tray with the PE1 device covered with a translucent covering, a warranty card, a quick guide and a USB Type–C charging cable.
The TOZO PE1 Device
Once you remove the device from the box, it comes with roughly 40 – 50% battery. I switched on the device and was ready for pairing. The process was simple: connect the PE1 with Bluetooth pairing to the smartphone. Then, open the TOZO App on your smartphone and add the device TOZO PE1 to the app. I checked for the firmware update, and the device was ready to be tested.
The PE1 has a 43.5 mm dynamic driver, providing 10 watts of output. While testing, the speakers vibrated, and you could feel them in your hand. I tested the device with various genres of music, including classical, rock, Indie pop, Bollywood, and soft ballads.
The Testing of TOZO PE1
I have noticed that if the speaker’s volume is up to 75%, I can get good punchy bass for the size of the speaker. When I increased the volume to almost 100% to check the speaker’s loudness, the speaker didn’t jar, but the bass level reduced, and I was not getting enough deep bass. Interesting idea, with the Bluetooth connectivity button on the device and the TOZO App, you can create a dual-speaker system, which means you can have a left & RIGHT Channel Stereo system, so you have much better sound quality to enjoy.
The Style & Design
As for style, I loved the integrated carabiner hook in the PE1 speaker. The small hooks add so much value that you can carry the device on your bag, belt, bike, or tent poles. The metal carabiner hook is sturdy and can easily open or lock. I have tested the quality of the hook while carrying it with me, and I even tested it with a drop test and an IPX8 water and dust proof test. And it passed the test with flying colours.
