Nothing continues its iconic transparent design philosophy, and the Phone (4a) feels instantly recognizable. The phone measures 163.95 mm (H) x 77.57 mm (W) x 8.55 mm (D) and weighs 204.5 grams. It comes with a matte white aluminum frame with a front 6.78-inch AMOLED display protected by Gorilla Glass 7i. And the back panel is Transparent glass with an upgraded Glyph Interface (63 mini-LEDs). The rectangle camera panel juts out of the body, which has the triple cameras [(50MP (f/1.88), 50MP (F/2.88) and 8MP (Ultra wide f/2.2)]. The cameras come with OIS & EIS, 70x Ultra Zoom. The Front (Selfie) camera is a 32MP (f/2.2) and has a 89˚ FoV.

The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset with Nothing 4.1 OS on Android 16. It comes with 12GB RAM. The 2GB boost RAM can be increased from the settings. Experience
As mentioned earlier in my introduction, all the non-technology devices stand out from their competitors. When it comes to phones, I think the brand is the first to design a transparent back. This lets you see the internal device layout. I think the Nothing phone is the only smartphone which has the Glyph interface or Glyph matrix.

As for the design, as I have mentioned, the Nothing 4a stands out among the competitors’ smartphones. The jutting, rectangular, rounded-edged camera panel stands beautifully alongside the triple-camera system. The transparent back panel looks beautiful and doesn’t catch fingerprints. The vertical Glyph rectangle of 63 mini-LEDs in 7 squares is up to 40% brighter than earlier versions. It can reach up to 3,500 nits.
The AMOLED display provides peak brightness up to 4500 nits with a 120Hz refresh rate. The phone supports HDR10+. This is one of the brightest displays in its segment, ideal for outdoor use in the UAE.
The company mentions that the display is protected by Gorilla 7i, which provides protection against scrapes and drops. But I was astonished, the screen got scratches just by carrying it in my jeans pocket. (The phone was carried in the jeans’ front pocket without any metal or any objects.). So I am not sure about the protection.
The Nothing 4a smartphone is IP64-certified for dust and water resistance. It can withstand submersion in up to 25cm of water for up to 20 minutes.
Nothing 4a Cameras
Nothing Main cameras

The main camera features a triple-camera system. The camera consists of a Phone (4a), which packs a 1/1.57” Samsung GN9 50 MP (f/1.88), wide camera (84.5˚ FoV) with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), with Autofocus, PDAF. The second camera is also 50MP (F/2.88) with 1/2.75” sensor with 49.5˚ FoV. This camera also comes with EIS (Electronic Image Stabilization) OIS (Optical Image Stabilization), with Autofocus, PDAF. It has got 3.5x optical zoom and supports 70x digital Ultra zoom. The camera is an Ultrawide camera (120˚ FoV) with an 8MP Sony IMX355 lens with F/2.2 .
During the daylight shots, the camera performed excellently, delivering vibrant colours and perfectly sharp images. With the AI function, the phone would further colour-correct and adjust colour saturation. Even while clicking flowers against the bright sky, the flower stood out with the AI correction.
During the low-light testing, the camera system’s performance was not as great as expected. While clicking a Dubai skyline shot at night, the camera took about 1-3 seconds to adjust before snapping the image.
Here are images captured from a moving car at a speed of 40km/h. Many of these images came out blurred. Others stopped capturing after a few seconds. Even when clicking the images in a still position, the camera took 1-3 seconds to adjust focus and lighting. Then it captured the image. With the AI correction, the low-light images would come with noise.
Front Camera (Selfie)
The Nothing 4a front camera comes with a 32MP Samsung KD1 (1/3.42” sensor) with f/2.2 and has ultra-wide 89˚FoV. The selfies clicked with the camera were excellent. It worked perfectly during the daylight and low-light photography. During low-light selfie time, the bright screen would be used as source of light to click the images.
Battery Life

The Nothing 4a smartphone comes with a 5080 mAh battery. The phone supports 50Watt wired fast charging. This is the 1st smartphone in 2026 which has a big battery. Based on our testing, the battery performed excellently. I used the phone to watch videos, listen to music, and scroll. The battery lasted more than 1.5 day.
Software Experience
The Nothing 4a comes with Android 16 with Nothing OS 4.1. It is Clean UI with minimal bloatware and comes with smart widgets and AI-based features. The UI feels smooth, distraction-free, and optimized for productivity. The phone worked smoothly, and scrolling and app switching were smooth. The phone worked with reliable performance for daily apps and multitasking, and mobile gaming is decent, but not flagship-level.
Glyph Experience

The Glyph lighting system is no longer just a gimmick. It provides Notification alerts, charging indicators, and custom light patterns. It adds personality to the device—something no other brand offers at this price.
When you place the phone face down, you can see the Glyph light indicating the Calls & notifications. You can also see the Charging progress indicator and Timer/countdown visuals. It also shows Music visualization. The Glyph Interface in 2026 is no longer just about aesthetics. Nothing is trying to turn it into a functional ambient interface—something that reduces screen dependency.
Essential Button and Space

On the Nothing 4a, there is an Essential Button on the left side of the phone. Instantly capture, save, and organize anything important using AI. It works together with a feature called Essential Space (Nothing’s AI hub).
The Essential Space provides a smart digital notebook + memory system. The Essential Space can store screenshots, voice notes, ideas and images. It uses AI to organize, summarize, and extract useful information. From the collected data, it can even automatically detect events (dates, reminders).

When you press the button to take a screenshot, and if you hold it further, it can start screen recording. With a long press, you start a voice recording. AI helps summarize the conversation. It highlights key points and extracts action items. During the meeting, you capture the thoughts, photos and content from the apps. The Essential button and space help. Instead of opening apps, you capture first, organize later.
Audio / Sound Quality
The Nothing 4a audio speakers were good as per the price range. When you hold the phone horizontally, you get stereo sound. The treble is higher compared to the bass. Overall, the Nothing Phone (4a) delivers clean, balanced, and practical audio, but not flagship-level richness.
