Introduction
BenQ is a global technology brand known for monitors, projectors, and eye-care screen solutions. The company focuses on improving visual comfort for people who spend long hours in front of screens. ScreenBar is BenQ’s smart screen lighting series designed to solve poor desk lighting and screen glare. It sits on top of the screen and lights only the workspace. This design protects the eyes while saving desk space. Today, ScreenBar is widely used by professionals, students, and creators worldwide. In 2025, BenQ unveiled its most advanced model, the ScreenBar Halo 2, which is more advanced than its predecessor models
BenQ and ScreenBar Journey

BenQ started its ScreenBar journey by solving a real problem faced by modern screen users. In 2017, BenQ introduced the world’s first ScreenBar, a light designed to sit on monitors. It delivered focused desk lighting without screen glare or reflections.
Later, BenQ launched ScreenBar Plus, adding a wired controller for easier brightness and colour temperature control. The company then released ScreenBar Halo, designed for professionals and multi-monitor users. It introduced rear ambient lighting to reduce contrast between the screen and surroundings.
BenQ continued refining accuracy and comfort with ScreenBar Pro, offering improved sensors and wider light coverage. In 2025, BenQ unveiled its most advanced model, the ScreenBar Halo 2. It merged dual-zone lighting, smarter auto-dimming, and premium build quality. Each model improved eye comfort, desk aesthetics, and daily productivity.

The Review of the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2
I got the device from the BenQ Middle East team after attending the launch in Dubai. For the reader, it looks like just another lighting product. Initially, I thought the same. I was approached to review the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Task Lamp in December 2022.
After using it, I quickly understood its value for a content creator like me. It significantly improved my daily workflow. Let us discuss the new BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 in detail. We will also explore its benefits for consumers who spend long hours at their monitors.
Design & Specification
The BenQ Screenbar Halo 2 has two parts: the Screenbar and the wireless controller. The Screenbar is longer compared to earlier versions. The new clip and holder can be used on flat and curved monitors.
The ScreenBar Halo 2

BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 has the lamp and wireless controller, and it comes in a matte dark grey colour. The lamp measures 50 x 14.3 x 10.9 cm. It weighs 0.8 kg. It has a USB cable with a Type-C pin. The device is compatible with Flat & curved monitors (0.43-6cm). The ScreenBar lamp and controller are made of Aluminum alloy and ABS Plastic. The lamp comes with dual LED lights, which can offer a Colour Rendering Index – Ra≥95 (Front Light) and Color Fidelity Index (Rf) – Rf≥96 (Front Light). The LED back panel provides 1000lux.
The Wireless Controller

The controllers are made of Aluminum alloy and ABS Plastic. It is round in shape with a touch-control panel on top. The device has a built-in Lithium battery and can be charged with a Type-C plug. The outer area of the round controller also rotates for extra functions.
The top panel already has printed indicators for the different functions. The center of the screen provides information on light intensity, output, and the controller battery level. The bottom side has the controller’s on/off switch and an anti-skid rubber ring for better grip.
My Experience

I am a little biased about this product. I have been using earlier versions of theirs for my regular work. You will find out the reason when you read my whole review. I will also explain why I chose this type of product. Most importantly, this is not a paid review. I do wish to be paid for my hard work, time, and effort. I have written this article for readers who face similar issues in their Workspaces.
Packaging
BenQ supports eco-friendly packaging. Compared to the past, the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 comes in a colour-printed cardboard box. It is neatly packed with the controller, Type-C cable, Quick Guide, and warranty card.
I have been using the BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Task Lamp since 2022 for my daily work. I also use the ScreenBar Plus regularly in my workspace. In this review, I compare both earlier models with the new BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2.

The BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 is 5 cm longer, which adds more light to the work table. Now it provides a lighting area of 85cm x 50cm at 500 lux. This is good for the eyes and causes less strain. You can, of course, control the light intensity with the controller. The angle of the light is more appropriate than that of my current BenQ ScreenBar e-Reading LED Task Lamp.

The controller is wireless and can be charged via a USB Type-C cable to the Type-C port on the device. The top part has touch control with printed indications of the functions, including temperature, Light control, and light automation. The device comes with a rotating ring. It controls functions like light intensity, colour temperature, and more. The bottom side has a rubber ring, which helps with anti-skid and keeps it stable.
What is Pros and Cons of the BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2?
The BenQ ScreenBar Halo 2 is longer compared to the earlier version, which provides more and better lighting. The front light uses BenQ’s ASYM-Light technology, featuring an asymmetrical optical design with an 18-degree cut-off angle. This design prevents screen glare while ensuring light never directly hits the user’s eyes.
The wireless controller has all the functions which I have already mentioned above. But the interesting add-on is the sensor, which provides auto-dimming and auto-on/off, helping reduce electricity consumption and prolong LED life.

The lamp has a sensor that detects when a person is in front of it. When you are not sitting in front of it, it switches off automatically. It turns on when you are around the light. You can switch this feature on or off using the controller. You can also adjust the colour temperature and light intensity directly from the controller.
The Screenbar comes with a bar holder. This holder has a gravity-based zinc-alloy clamp. It supports flat, curved, thin, and thick monitors without causing damage.
The Screenbar Halo 2 comes with rear lighting, which helps to illuminate the wall behind the screen. This helps reduce eye strain by providing ambient light. And if you don’t want the rear lighting, you can switch it on/off from the controller.
Reduces your electricity bill
For me, the most important point is saving money on electricity. As a content writer, I work long hours, late at night, sometimes until early morning. My earlier house room had two chandeliers with 6 bulbs each, each with its own individual wall button. And the current house has two lights which light up the whole room.

So you can understand, before my first Screenbar, I was using quite an amount of lot of electricity. Now, with the Screenbar, I can switch off my room light and save electricity. Secondly, I am not disturbing others sleeping in the room. Thirdly, I have controlled the lighting in my workspace to meet my requirements. This control helps me work longer hours without eye strain.
The only issue with controller

The con part is the top part of the controller, which has the touch control. The top part is reflective and shiny and leaves fingerprint smudges easily. I wish the BenQ team would change it to a matte finish or a non-smudging touchscreen.
Price & Availability
The BenQ Screenbar Halo 2 is priced at AED 799. It is available on e-commerce websites and electronic retail stores across the Middle East.
Conclusion
The BenQ Screenbar Halo 2 is an excellent product for Content Creators. It is also ideal for consumers who work long hours at a screen. It reduces eye strain and provides adequate lighting at your work table. With the sensor that provides auto-dimming and auto-on/off. The dual front- and rear-lighting system delivers balanced light that reduces eye strain during long work sessions. The front light clearly illuminates your keyboard, documents, and desk without causing glare on the screen.

For example, writers and editors will gain when typing at night. The desk stays bright. Meanwhile, the screen remains comfortable. Designers and video editors will see better colour accuracy on their desk tools and control panels. Students studying in shared rooms get soft background lighting without disturbing others. The rear light also helps Gamers by reducing harsh contrast during dark scenes. It creates a soft glow that improves focus and visual comfort.
But, minimal desk users find the ambient backlight unnecessary. Some users prefer total darkness behind the screen for movie watching. The dual lighting system also uses slightly more power than single-light models.
Overall, it is an excellent product for content creators. It is also great for long-time screen users who need proper lighting for their Workspaces at home or at work. Halo 2, BenQ proves that thoughtful lighting design still matters for modern digital Workspaces.
