Soundpeats Air5 Semi-In-Ear Wireless Earbuds
Summary
Soundpeats Air5 earbuds review, highlighting design, sound quality, Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, ANC features, and user experience. Perfect for workouts and daily use, these affordable wireless earbuds offer exceptional value and performance.
Introduction
Soundpeats, a young brand founded in 2010, creates audio devices like headphones, earbuds, and smartwatches. Their main selling point is the excellent price for high-quality products and packaging. I have reviewed many Soundpeats devices, including GoFree2, RunFree, and Air4. Recently, I received the Soundpeats Air5 earbuds directly from the company for this review.
Design and Specifications

The earbuds come in a matte black ABS plastic case with a thin grey line around it and the Soundpeats logo on the back. A small multicoloured LED light on the front indicates the case’s battery level. The case features a USB Type-C charging port, which is neatly encased with a dark copper rim with a reset button. The Soundpeats logo is on the backside of the case at the joint of the cover and base. The case includes a 400mAh rechargeable battery and weighs 44.56 grams with the earbuds.
The earbuds feature a combination of matte black and shiny ABS plastic. They have 13mm Composite Bio-Diaphragm Speakers and an embedded “S” logo on each earbud in copper metal. The design fits the human ear, holding in the antihelix and antitragus without blocking the airway or using silicon ear tips. The bottom of the earbuds has charging pins, and the sides feature touch controls for noise cancellation and volume. They connect via Bluetooth 5.4 and work up to a 10-meter distance. Each earbud has a 35mAh rechargeable battery and weighs 3.8 grams. The earbuds are IPX5-rated, though the case’s rating is unknown.
The Review
The Packing
The Soundpeats Air5 Semi-In-Ear aptX Adaptive Lossless Wireless Earbuds arrive in a white box with a close-up image of the earbuds. The “S” logo and Air5 are printed in gold. The “Soundpeats” logo is also gold, with “Hear your Imagination” written on the box’s side. The box’s other side features icon images with earbud details. The bottom side displays full details with an image of the earbuds and case. Upon removing the top cover, you will find a sleeve with the warranty and a quick start guide. Below the sleeve, the Soundpeats Air5 earbuds rest in the translucent-covered case. The side compartment holds the USB Type-C short cable.
Soundpeats Air5
When you open the box, the earbuds are already placed in the battery case. They come with Snapdragon sound certification and aptX Lossless Audio Decoding. The 13mm Composite Bio-Diaphragm Speakers deliver excellent sound quality. The Soundpeats Air5 earbuds offer 30 hours of playtime with app control, providing 6.5 hours of listening on a single charge. Bluetooth 5.4 ensures a stable multipoint connection up to 10 meters.

The earbuds support 24-bit, 96 kHz high-resolution audio. Soundpeats claims a 6-mic system enhances noise cancellation. This feature significantly improves call quality and reduces background noise.
How to Get the Best Usage of the Soundpeats Air5
Download the PeatsAudio app from the Google Play Store or Apple Store. Please create your account and connect the Air5 earbuds via Bluetooth after removing them from the case. Add the Soundpeats Air5 earbuds in the app to begin customization.
Home Screen

Once connected, the app displays the earbuds’ battery levels. The top left provides access to firmware upgrades. Below the battery level, you can switch between Noise Cancellation and normal mode. Five ear canal sound quality options follow though they did not significantly change the sound output. Below that, you can disable touch controls and enable Game Mode. The last option allows you to set customized touch controls on the earbuds.
EQ Screen

The second screen offers sound quality settings. At the top, the Adaptive EQ feature guides you through a sound profile test. This test adjusts Bass, Mids, and Treble to your hearing level. If you skip the test, choose from nine EQ preset options or create your own custom EQ settings. These settings apply to other Soundpeats devices as well. There is a slight delay when toggling between the Home and EQ screens, but it does not affect sound playback. I hope the Soundpeats App team resolves this issue soon.
My Experience

The Soundpeats Air5 earbuds feature touch controls that were slightly tricky at first but became intuitive over time. The touch controls are on the top area of the earbuds, not the stick area. There is a slight delay in the response. Dragging up on the left earbud reduces the volume while dragging up on the right increases it. Holding the “S” logo on the right earbud changes the track. Tapping the earbud switches between ANC and normal mode. Holding the right earbud stops the music, and double-tapping resumes it.

In normal mode, the Soundpeats Air5 earbuds perform well, but the bass boost mode offers excellent sound quality. The ANC mode only slightly reduces external noise. During video and audio calls, I heard the other person clearly, and my voice quality was good with minimal drops.
The sound quality is impressive with the bass boost on. The treble and mids are clear, though I missed the deep bass rumbles. I recommend manually adjusting the equalizer for a personalized sound setting, especially for those who prefer more bass in their music.
Price & Overall Experience
The Soundpeats Air5 earbuds are priced at AED 289. They offer great value with Bluetooth 5.4, a 10-meter connection range, touch controls, and a high-quality case and earbuds. They are very light, allowing long-term wear. The earbuds perform excellently during audio calls.
Please Note: I kept the smartphone volume at half. I recommend keeping your volume at half to protect your eardrums and prevent hearing loss. Continuous high-volume listening may damage your ears.
Conclusion

The Soundpeats Air5 features a lightweight, sleek, and ergonomic design for both the case and earbuds. The 13mm drivers, Snapdragon chipset, and ANC mode make it a good buy. However, do not expect very deep bass sounds as the earbuds do not fully block the ear canals. The 6-mic system creates a good ANC environment for the price. The app offers many functions and preset EQ settings, and I appreciated the Adaptive EQ test. The app has a minor delay between screens, but overall, the team has improved it compared to previous versions. The touch controls are limited to the top “S” logo area and do not work on the stick area. With an IPX5 rating, you can use the earbuds for indoor and outdoor exercise as they allow airflow and prevent ear canal blockage.
