
Oppo-Reno-7-5G-Review
Oppo launched the Reno7(5G) at an event around mid-march 2022 in Dubai, UAE. We had the opportunity to get the handset delivered by PR and below are the details and the review.
Body & Specification

The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) smartphone has a dimension of 160.6 mm x 73.2 mm x 7.81 mm and weighs 173 grams which include a non-removal battery. It has a Rigid LTPS AMOLED display touchscreen and size of 6.4inches with a resolution of 2400x 1080 pixels with a screen 409 PPI density. It has a 90.8% screen-to-body ratio and 20:9 body ratio. The display has got The body build has a metal frame with the front display protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 5.
It comes with ColorOS 12 based on Android 11 as the user interface. It uses MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G + GPU Adreno 730 with 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB ROM for storage.
It comes with the triple cameras on the rear camera one – 64 MP, f/1.7, 26mm (wide), 1/2.0″, 0.7µm, PDAF second camera 8 MP, f/2.2, 119˚ (ultra-wide) and third camera 2 MP, f/2.4, (macro). The front round shape camera has single 32 MP, f/2.4, 24mm (wide), 1/2.74″, 0.8µm which embedded into the display.
The main camera can shoot video at 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120fps, gyro-EIS and the front camera can shoot video at 1080p@30fps, gyro-EIS. The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) main camera features Dual-LED dual-tone flash and panorama, and HDR for both front and main cameras.

The Oppo Reno 7 (5G frame has the power button on the right-hand side and on the left-hand side of the phone has the volume rockers and SIM Card Tray. On the top side of the frame, you have the speaker and mic. On the bottom of the frame, you have the slot which has 2 SIM Card Tray which support GSM / CDMA / HSPA / EVDO / LTE / 5G. The bottom of the phone has the USB Type- C super-charge SUPERVOOC input, speaker grills, mic and 3.5mm jack.

The display comes with a 90Hz refresh rate and up to a 180Hz touch sample rate. It has SGS eye care display certification and Netflix & Amazon HD streaming certification. The phone has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot, Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, aptX HD.
The Review
The device which I have received for review is the star trails blue back panel.
The box of the Oppo Reno 7 (5G) is light blue colour matt finish with logo and big size no 7 printed in black, 12 and the details of the phone printed on the bottom side of the box. Once the box is opened, you will find the paper sleeve which has the protective case, quick start guide, warranty card and SIM ejector tool. Below the paper sleeve, you will find the Oppo Reno 7 (5G) phone covered in a translucent covering. Below the phone, you have the USB Type-C cable and the 65W SUPERVOOC supercharger adapter.
With the 90.8% screen-to-body ratio display, the bezel of the phone almost merges with the frame of the phone. The design of the frame is such that the front and back panel Corning Gorilla Glass 5 merges into the side of the frame making it look very slim and the glass back panel has matt silky finish which doesn’t leave any fingerprints or smudges.
The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) Cameras

The front panel of the display houses the Single 32 MP, f/2.4, 24mm (wide), 1/2.74″, 0.8µm which is embedded into the display on the left side of the screen. The Rigid LTPS AMOLED display is very vibrant and bright, even testing during the harsh daylight there was no issue viewing the screen. The in-screen fingerprint sensor was accurate and had a quick response. The transition from one screen to another was fast the smooth. The response time of switching ON/OFF of the apps was quick.

The main camera is housed in a rounded rectangle shape panel is a little protruding from the back panel, so it is better to use the protective phone casing to protect the cameras.
The main rear camera comes with triple cameras – 64 MP, 8 MP and a third camera 2 MP
With the Color OS 12, the camera performance was great. Let us talk about photography.
Photography

The camera performed very well. The Bokeh effect created with help of AI was great. Here in this image, you can see the sharpness of the mask while the background has blurred just like a professional DSLR camera. The Reno7 5G provides 25 levels of adjustable aperture sizes from F0.95 to F16, allowing you to precisely adjust the depth of field and the level of Bokeh in the background according to the style.

The camera performed very well under low light conditions. Images were clicked from moving cars and the result was sharp. Images captured also controlled the glare from the lights.

Here is an image of the plate of rice and the lighting of the room is basic lighting. You can see each grain of the rice sharp and with the touch of shadow, creating a great image.
The 32MP selfie camera performed very well and also the skin tone looked natural. If you notice the below image, you can see the lighting falling on my face in which lighting from the right side has created a shadow on the left side of the face which creates realistic depth on the image even the with AI and face enhancement algorithm, the camera output preserved the realistic image look without an artificial touch-up.
Videography
The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) has all the latest video features of the flagship mobile. The cameras come with Dual Camera mode where the user can record themselves with the main camera focused on the subject. It is a perfect mode for travellers, vloggers and users who like to create an exciting video by interacting with the subject in front of the camera. The camera has the Al Portrait mode option where it automatically detects the subject in the image and applies a monochrome filter to everything else and provides a more vibrant colour. The camera also has focus mode which can be activated by double-tap on an object to track it as the main subject. The camera has UltraSteady which helps you get to stabilise the video. While video recording, you can capture the moment with a click of a button. You can shoot a 4K video at 30fps and take a selfie video at 1080 and 30 fps.
Operating System and Software

The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) works on Android 11 OS and has Color OS 12 as the user interface. The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) has It uses MediaTek Dimensity 900 5G + GPU Adreno 730 with 8 GB RAM and a 256 GB ROM for storage. The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) supports 5G and Wi-Fi 6, ensuring faster connectivity. The phone is also equipped with OPPO’s self-developed RAM Expansion technology, meaning that if the phone runs out of usable RAM space, you can choose to convert part of available ROM to virtual RAM by enabling the function. RAM Expansion also offers the freedom to choose just how much RAM you want to add, with options for 2GB, 3GB, and 5GB expansion available. Now, even with multiple apps running or action-packed games demanding your attention, Reno7 5G will keep them running nice and smoothly.
Benchmark Testing

The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) was tested with various benchmark testing Apps. On the PC Mark benchmark, it scored 8105. On the 3D Mark benchmark – Wildlife, it scored 2031. On the Geek benchmark, it scored 716 on single-core and 2143 on multi-core.
Connectivity & Battery
The smartphone has an in-screen fingerprint sensor, face detection, pattern, and pin for accessing the smartphone. The phone comes with Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/6, dual-band, Wi-Fi Direct, hotspot and Bluetooth 5.2, A2DP, LE, aptX HD and with A-GPS, GLONASS, BDS, GALILEO, QZSS. The smartphone comes with a non-removable Li-Po 4500 mAh battery which can last more than a day with average usage. The smartphone comes with USB Type- C SUPERVOOC charging input which can charge the phone at 65 watts.
Conclusion

The Oppo Reno 7 (5G) is a very great smartphone for the price, the phone is the flagship with all the great features for gaming, and watching online entertainment. The built quality and colour make the phone very rich and stylish. With triple cameras with AI support makes this smartphone is one of the best on the market, as, for the selfies, the single 32MP lens can make difference with the Ai function which can give a very nice creamy Bokeh effect and focus on your face. It has a quick and sharp focus system. Additional features like the dual-mode, double-tap click for the subject tracking and a lot more functions, make this phone very desirable for the current “Z” generation and even for the corporate people. The camera experience was amazing and images and video clicked on testing proved Oppo Reno 7 (5G) i is providing great products for a reasonable price compared to the competitors.
