What We Liked:

An below average movie with nothing special to talk about. The trailers are good.

What We Disliked:

Story line and script could have better as the trailer

What We Thought

I wish the movie was good as the trailers and did come up to my expectation. You can watch this movie, if you don’t have any other movie to watch.

17-year old Clare Shannon (Joey King) is haunted by the memory of her mother’s suicide. She lives in low middle class family and her father Jonathan (Ryan Phillippe) lives by diving into dumpsters and he comes across a box with Chinese inscriptions. Clare is bright student and studies Chinese and read little bit of Chinese. Jonathan who gifts her this Chinese Box and she reads inscription which says it can grant her “Seven Wishes”.

The whole movie is around this Chinese in-scripted music box which opens up with a music when you ask for wish and closes up when the wish is granted and also on cost of “blood sacrifice” for each wish close to wish maker.

It is teenage type dark movie which is not appealing to adult audience. There was nothing to horror in the movie expected looking at the trailer which was well made. I wish the movie was good or better than the trailer. Here the trailer is the winner.

I wish there could have been jump scare moments or some effective climax ending in the B grade movie.
