In an event held at VOX Cinema at Aloft Hotel, Deira City Center Dubai, ASUS Middle East showcased and launched their 2019 new line up of gaming and consumer devices which included notebooks and desktop notebook. These products were showcased last month in Computex 2019 and have some interesting features and designs for the gaming community and consumers.
Asus Republic of Gamers (ROG) Range Of Gaming Products
The ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) today presented a new lineup of gaming notebook products with the hashtag #BeUnstoppable. The highlight of the ROG product was the world’s first true desktop replacement notebook “The ROG Mothership”.
The company also announced the compact yet powerful ROG Zephyrus S (GX502) & will be the first to bring a 240-hertz refresh rate panel monitor to the region with the arrival of the Scar III (G731). The latest ROG gaming laptops offer serious utility to both competitive gamers and creative professionals.
“The Middle East is one of our most important markets for gaming as we strive to continue to be the number one gaming brand globally. Gaming hardware enthusiasts in the region have shown a desire to continue having the latest and greatest hardware and we aim at providing them with it. We appreciate the support they have shown for the ROG products”, said Jeff Lo, Regional Head for the Middle East.
A Revolutionary New Design and Form Factor
The ROG Mothership caters to connoisseurs who appreciate the engineering and craftsmanship that goes into premium PC hardware. Instead of sitting flat, the ROG Mothership stands tall to draw more air into its advanced cooling system. Its keyboard detaches and folds to fit different scenarios, giving you the freedom to find the perfect position, and the innovative design leaves enough room to put all the speakers right below the screen. The main body pieces are machined from solid slabs of aluminum using a precise CNC milling process that ensures a perfect fit. The process steps through 114 individual tooling stages and takes nearly 20 hours to carve every little detail. Each piece is brushed and anodized for a flawless finish that’s guaranteed to turn heads.
The exquisitely machined aluminum chassis frames a 17.3” Full HD IPS-level display with a 144Hz refresh rate, 3ms GTG response time display featuring NVIDIA G-SYNC™ technology is powered by the new NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 2080 GPU and Intel® Core™ i9-8950HK processor. Better cooling allows the ROG Mothership to push the CPU and GPU beyond stock speeds and still sustain exceptional performance with demanding workloads. The factory overclocked core is complemented by a RAID 0 array with three NVMe SSDs, plus next-generation networking that enables greater than gigabit speeds for both wired and wireless connections. Thermals have also been significantly upgraded as the ROG ‘Mothership’ consist of a Thermal Grizzly liquid metal safely ensconced within a thermal fence on the heat block instead of regular thermal paste. This reduces the CPU temperature but up to 14 degrees Celsius for better performance and product life.
Game and Work Like a Pro
Smooth gameplay demands high frame rates to fully take advantage of a high refresh rate display. Zephyrus S GX502 comes with up to GeForce RTX 2070 graphics that can deliver fluid frame rates for everything from cinematic adventures to high-intensity shooters. It comes with 240Hz refresh rate with IPS panel with factory calibrated using ASUS ProArt™ TruColor Technology. Each PANTONE Validated display also ensures true colours across the full sRGB range.
Zephyrus S GX502 comes with the new 9th Gen Intel Core i7-9750H CPU, providing six cores and 12 threads. It has got 32GB of DDR4-2666 memory, Zephyrus S GX502 can handle any multitasking scenario. Gamers can broadcast high-quality streams, chat with the channel, and play the latest titles smoothly, while power users can run everything they need for maximum productivity.
First 240hz Displays to The Middle East

The highlight of the launch included the debut of the ZenBook Pro Duo (UX581), the ZenBook 14 (UX434) & the VivoBook S14 (S431). The Middle East will be one of the first countries globally to sell the highly anticipated ZenBook Pro Duo (UX581)
“Innovation has been at the core of everything we do at ASUS. From our start with motherboards three decades ago, we are now a multinational company with an expansive portfolio of incredible and innovative products that are consistently recognized by top-rated media outlets and by our fans,” said Jeff Lo, ASUS Middle East Regional Head. “It’s with great pride that I present today’s lineup of innovative notebook products for creatives and gamers. Each product on display today is a reflection of our devotion and ambition to create Incredible in everything we do”.

ZenBook Pro Duo’s design is the best thing I liked the launch event. This is the first time the display touchpad design in ScreenPad design looked very practical compared to the touchpad screen display.
The New Touchpad
The new ZenBook and VivoBook models feature the ScreenPad2.0, powered by the new ScreenXpert software. ScreenPad 2.0 now has a larger 5.65-inch touchscreen that offers many new features and benefits. This interactive secondary touchscreen enhances productivity, allowing for a more efficient workflow. It includes a collection of handy ASUS utilities to boost productivity: Quick Key enables one-tap automation of complex keyboard sequences, Handwriting for natural text input, and Number Key for rapid data entry. The revised smartphone-like interface is more intuitive for improved ease of use. Third-party developers can also use the ASUS API to optimize their software and user experiences for ScreenPad. The hardware is now also more energy efficient than its predecessor, allowing for 2.5X longer battery life when ScreenPad is in use.
“We believe that giving consumers a second screen is the way of the future. This innovation greatly improves multi-tasking and productivity and we have spent countless hours working on the UI and improving the functionality and user experience for the second generation,” said Jeff.
The Compact Designs Is the New Thing
The ScreenPad 2.0 is also featured on the new ZenBook 14 (UX434). The ultralight and ultraportable ZenBook 14 model boasts the smallest footprints in their class, a feat made possible by the frameless NanoEdge displays. The stunning 14-inch displays feature ultraslim bezels on all four sides, creating up to a 95% screen-to-body ratio that maximizes the screen area in the minimum physical space. The result is simply breathtaking: the near-borderless visuals deliver a more immersive viewing experience with less visual distraction, making the ZenBook series the perfect choice for on-the-go creativity or entertainment. The new ZenBook 14 series is built to deliver unbounded on-the-go performance, featuring up to the latest 8th Generation Intel® Core™ i7 processor and a range of fast graphics options, including up to NVIDIA® GeForce MX250 discrete graphics.

To appeal to a younger market, these are the first in the VivoBook range to feature the VivoBook logo on the lid, and the lid also features a tactile textured finish to further highlight the series’ different approach to computing. There are also intricate design touches like twill inspired vents and speakers on the underside of the chassis. VivoBook S14 has a metal chassis finished in Moss Green, Punk Pink, Cobalt Blue, Transparent Silver or Gun Metal, with each colour featuring complementing accents to give the laptop’s colour blocking designs that really pop.
